less than 2 ton old machines like that are surprisingly light, now if that was a Holbrook b21 then it would be 4t plusNo mate. In very good condition. Am chuffed with it. It's 10ft long. And I estimate the weight to be around 4T .

Another Vintage Evershed & Knowles megger insulation tester.

This one is unusual in that it is dual range so it can be used for continuity testing as well.

That makes 3 meggers I have, all working perfectly. Probably too many so the Record Minor will be up for sale soon.
I tried some G10 cutting compound on a cloth on the red one & it came up beautifully, the marbled bakelite finish looks lovely. Finished it off with clear wax.

Eat your heart out @knighty
Acquired this new to me mixer today, found it buried in a hedge on a land clearance job. Anyone that wants anything off it let me know before it ends up in mixer heaven.

Do you know much about these old meggers @Turbo I only ask as I had a need to run an insulation test this afternoon, and I suddenly remembered that I had one of these old vintage testers stashed away in the cupboard.
I’ve had it for Donkey’s Ages and I’ve never used it. Well I didn’t use it today either as it appears to be broken. The needle seems to settle wherever it wants to irrespective of what you do with the handle.
Have you ever had one apart? Is it worth trying to fix it? Are they repairable?
The meter in mine is held in with insulation tape, so it’s obviously had some ‘attention’ in the past. If there’re easy to fix I might give it a go.
Today was the first time I’ve ever had a use for it, so I don’t need it enough to warrant much effort or cash on the repairs...
They can be repaired.
Most issues are with the generator. If it has a "cutch" that can slip.
I use mine at work and the classic yellow handbag megger.
The clutch mechanism seems to be working fine. Well it sounds like it’s working anyhow. Just not getting anything on the meter.
May not be getting anything out of the generator either bit I’m not about to grab the leads to find out!
Not me but a mate of mine found this thrown in a skip. It's in perfect condition, all the slides are working perfectly

Mrs tbd is Hungarian and her dad was telling me about buying a trabant new , years ago. Apparently you went to dealership , paid your money and at **some** point in the next 18 months it arrived. He had done some work in the states and could pay with dollars and therefore was allowed to at least choose the colourIf only it could talk, it could tell interesting tales!!
From Trabant factory in East Germany, to a skip in Ireland - I'd bet it's had a more interesting life than some people.![]()
Mini Me wanted this type of saw for cutting plastics.
It pulls overs, it sparks and it coughs when easy start gets a squirt or 2 into the carb.
