This week yes.Hi Mr. Aardvark, is there ever a day when you don’t go shopping
Today I received.....
A letter telling me that after 26 years working in the same place my last shift will be on Friday May 31st!
Nope, redundancy. I'm a little too young to retire, I've just turned 50.
300 job losses announced last year. 60+ have already gone without taking redundancy, most of those are from engineering.
My employment record is exemplary and I'm one of the most skilled in my department but I put in for VR as I didn't want to run the risk of them shunting me into a job I didn't want to do.
I've had enough of working nights and we have no mortgage now so it's all come at the right time to be honest.

He even manages to squeeze in some work into his schedule.....
They still show them today, spotted these at a couple of shows last year.

Can you still go and get a job and they still have to pay you as part of the redundancy terms .. I left two month early under notice of redundancy ..they said they wouldn't pay me .. the barrister said otherwise …... I got every thing due to me
I definitely need to get some advice on that, I know our final salary pension has a huge deficit.Hopefully the company is offering a decent VR package if you have a company pension it could be worth moving it elsewhere (take advice first)

They’ve offered us statutory plus 50% and a £325 per month payment as long as we behave ourselves. The £325 p/m is taxable but they also told us the 50% would be taxable if we left before our agreed date. They’ve now told us if we leave before our agreed date we get nothing.

They seem to keep changing things ad-hoc, I think they're just trying to frighten people into seeing out their notice period. What has been said about if you leave you get nothing …….. That might not be the case if you find a job and have written confirmation that to have it you need to start by a date earlier than your date of notice... So it might be worth checking with CAB if you do happen to find such a way of earning a few pounds etc. For that is what happened in my case back in 1984 .. I don't remember if it was a legislated thing or a union agreed thing .
