The missus found this in one of our outbuildings, never seen it before so I guess this classes it as being acquired today
She thought it was a billhook but I'm pretty sure it's a slasher.

The split stem where the handle goes is very heavy steel, it looks blacksmith made

There are some marks on the blade but I don't think these are makers marks, more like owners initials but I can't make them out

She already has a couple of billhooks and I bought her an Austrian scythe last year so I will clean it up, sharpen it and find a handle for it and add it to her collection. She has already laid a few hedges with the billhooks and been out with the scythe between the trees we planted earlier in the year so getting some good use.

They’re excellent for a wander in scrub/overgrown areas. You can cut a little track with them - I do. I have three old whitehouse ones. There are lots of patterns, I’ll send you the catalogue so you can see if it’s in there. Different slashers, different jobs

Good to see those manuals, I did a clutch change in the eighties on a RAF base with just four Halfords ramps, on a Vauxhall Viva.
Then I had a mini clubman ; my brother had a T Spitfire.

I got one just like that a week ago - slipped off the top step getting round the stairlift.
(I was struggling, because I'd already hurt my back lifting mum off the floor.)
carpet burn down inside of left arm.
ripped an inch long piece out of my toe on the stairlift.
completely put my back out so I could barely move.
had to phone exmrsegg to come over to sort my toe out as I was leaking claret everywhere, and I couldn't stretch enough to reach.
turns out that toetips heal as fast as fingertips, though.
