today I acquired nothing 
went to bootsale and one stall selling a crappy silverline grinder and a rubbish titan demolition hammer . another stall selling knacked tinsnips and a crappy pair of stilsons 
took the grand total of five minutes to get round

Wasn't a great result for me either. A third the normal amount of stalls. Walked away with a 110v spider a 3 way splitter and another lead for £4 light duty so will leave in the garage. Also a air chisel and bits. Will test it thus week. Don't really need it but worth a punt for a beer token.

I did... we thought west Ashton would be called off because of yesterday's rain. Was it well attended? Standerwick was very quiet.

Yesterday's rain appeared to keep a lot of sellers away this morning, it was probably down by two thirds as people plan ahead. Buyer numbers were down too although the weather was fine today.
My Moore and Wright collection continues to grow.
The previous owner's name is neatly engraved on the back of side of the foot but otherwise it is in nice condition. The seller was the owner's daughter, he had priced everything up for her to sell.
Two quid for all the items below. This seller had picked up a few toolboxes at auction and was selling all the bits. The lot numbers were still on the toolboxes. The drifts/punches are big and meaty and file handles come in very handy for all the old files I keep finding a home for. Is the wedge from a T slot set or is it from something else? It is bugging me as it looks really familiar.
From Mr House Clearance who always sells stuff cheap.
8mm flat bar and a big file handle 50p the lot.
Three inch Picador Vee belt pulley. 50p same seller.
I returned to the same stall later on and prices had improved to "Any item for 10p". I nearly felt robbed!
He does house clearances so I think he has been paid once already to take the stuff away. I had another dig through and got these items at the new price point. "Concrete Master Made in England 20mm" drill and the trowel. I need neither item but for ten pence each they had to come away with me.
An Eclipse, Made in England scriber and a 12 point half inch Snap On socket in half inch drive. Haggled down to £1.70 from two quid. I only picked up the scriber to draw attention away from the Snap On socket during negotiations but it is nice to have a spare one. Scribers are easily put down, never to be seen again until the next time in the workshop.
It's not a black impact socket, just really old and very dirty.
Finally, my favourite purchase of the day. MT2 16.5mm Osborn Taper drill (The shorter one) and a 16mm Dormer taper drill. £1.50 for the pair. There is some perished tape or plastic stuck on the tapers and a little bit of fresh rust. There is nothing wrong with them and they will be looking like new very shortly. Plenty of uses for them in the drill and the lathe. 16mm is a useful size.

This evenings Facebook freebie makes up for the car boot fail.
One drawer needs attention and another is a bit notchy. 20kg per drawer. Happy with that. Solid bit of kit.

Found these under the bottom drawer. Did require drilling rivets to gain access mind.
This appears to be one of the bearing cages from the bottom 2/drawers. The other one is AWOL. Do I bend a new bearing cage and try rebuilding or buy a couple of new sets. Easy to rivet in new. There's an inner skin.
@Maker just sat down and looked at Facebook as it popped up. Would have been rude not too. £10 on some new runners new rubber mat on top and clean the tcut off the drawers and its a winner.

So my 'fencing axe' as it was listed, came in the post today. It was a bit smaller than I expected!
I thought it was a carpenter's axe - I was close but I had a read of the 1940 catalogue and it's actually a lath hammer. The blade should be straight, so it was off to the workshop to fire up the grinder.
Still more work to do I'm afraid - the blade is now finished but the hammer head has chunks missing from mushrooming I ground off. How can I repair this? I want to fix it, it's a really nice little hammer.

Build up with weld, then grind back to shape?
My thoughts, but as I don't weld I don't know what you can do with welding these things. Not even sure if it's cast steel or drop forged

That's a sweet "Roofers Axe/ Hammer. normally has a Hex to round shaft in Hickory. But heart of oak does look good as well.
Head is wedged with 2 through rivet side cheeks. Brass rivet or soft steel ones will do.
