Collected it last night from somewhere in a triangle between bridgwater, taunton and street... All works sweetly.
thats one pattern i am short off, it will be the tassie quite well worn but a nice stamp on it. i have one of only 2 known 2 lb welsh pattern axes with the wednsbury forge stamp, yes i quite like axes hahaThis lovely 4lb Elwell axe head. It was on for $15 but I asked if they could cut the handle off as I only wanted the head, so they did it for $10. I was given a new, unused but long term stored axe handle a few months back, so this is going to be perfect for that.
, 2 lengths of gorgeously soft 3 strand rope for painters for my canoe, and a fid for splicing eyes in them.

Are those 4 x 'XXXX's to the left of the "Made in England" in the first pic? [I'm thinking maybe it passed through OZ on it's way to NZ![]()

And had an impromptu lesson in eye splicing from an old boy in the shop as well. I can do it but it never looks right, so this was one of those serendipitous moments.
From the 'Bay of everything, another grinder [I've stopped now, honest] £8.50 + £5 p&p

he said if they don't look good put them on the floor and roll the splice under your foot. It works too.
