Today I acquired...........

Nice acquisition Easy enough to make another lens.

I drilled a square of uv resistant clear plastic at each corner put double sided sticky tape on one side and carefully screwed & stuck it to a bit of thick ply to which I'd put a sunken coach bolt in the middle with a flat washer & six nuts on the other side, tightened the first nut up a bot so it gripped well in the ply & slipped it in the lathe and turned out a very accurate lens using a fine thread cutting tool at almost 90 degrees to the chuck . It was so good I used the same principle to make another three lenses .
Getting the double sided sticky tape off the completed lens was a tad awkward till I warmed it up in hand hot water , then managed to roll off much of the tape then carefully rubbed the remainder off with a bit of old soft towel well wetted with WD40 .


I tried to make it without using the double sided sticky tape idea and at the point of break through the lens caught up on the cutting tool and developed a large crack .

Or 1" hose for water...we used them for sprinklers etc

I know it as a Geka fitting, I used them to get a bit more flow from a waterbutt last year.

A set of Abingdon adjustable.

That’s a Britain’s Land Rover. It’s one of the first toy cars I ever owned, when my sister was born my parents told me the baby was magical and brought a present for me with her! Being 2, I believed it!

It came alone or with a horsebox, as mine did. I got another one in Scotland, new tooling, really nice actually. I’ll dig them both out and post a pic

Quickset Knipex Cobras, slowly trying to replace all my crap pliers with Knipex, best you can get.

DeWalt drill/driver set, both three speed brushless, 5Ah battery and nice skookum metal chuck, should be leaps and bounds ahead of my Bosch green thing.
Went for DeWalt because it seemed like the best value option considering tools I'm likely to buy body-only in the future and a few members on here use them professionally and seem to like them.

Skill saw planer multi tool first and second fix nail guns drill and driver (cheap not worth me buying to spec) jigsaw all still going strong

I've got the heavy duty 1/2" impact driver on the way and I may well order a circular saw in the next month or so too. I'll keep an eye out for a second hand angle grinder and die grinder, don't need one enough to buy new but it would be nice. I can see an oscillating multi tool coming in handy over the next few months too, we'll see.

It's also the most abused.
It still won't die even running it for extended periods well out of it's intended usage.
A worthy buy. Couldn't go back to a corded multitool.

Today my last site was a good one.
The lock up of a house clearance company.
Decent bloke, always makes a good coffee.

3 of his extinguishers were damaged, but I had 3 what were removed from a site, as they want new ones every 3 years.
No need for that, but site rules are site rules.
So I swopped them.

He gave me this lot.



Sparkies Screwdriver, 2 more Arbafille holders.

Plus another 1/4 whit tap.




Another Breast Drill, complete and fully working.

It looks like a Keen Drill, by the colour on the gear wheel, but what I can see of the remains of the makers name, it isn't.

I worked with a engineer who had a set.
I didn't get on with them, may be it was the job. But he didn't get on with my Mac Water pump set either.

I prefer the button style adjustment but if you're into the Channel-lock type they do look secure. I've never had one slip into the next setting but to be fair I don't use them very often.

Seriously running out of toolbox space now.

front is a crowfoot connection ( used on road compressors to connect to jackhammers and the like.) No idea on the other one.

The other is a Rose head connection to a garden watering lance.

It is a "Ever Ready" Sells man razor.
The tin should be lined and with a small brush.
They used to give them out to show what the different type of razor they sold.
