Had this with the freelander earlier this year, I replaced the fuel filter and it has transformed it and no more issues

Same for me on my Focus, no warning lights just loss of power, the engine would die, usually at the most inconvenient times, I would have to turn off and turn on again and all would be well. Apparently on Fords this is linked to cold weather and the garage still supplying summer diesel. Don't know about that but it happened the first time after I put a quality engine / injector cleaner through and the last time when the weather turned icy......

While in town om Thursday, I popped into MacGregors Ind Supplies [ideally I should never be allowed in there unsupervised ] to get some more gloves and left with them, plus this, a 10" x 3" blank of spalted beech thinking I could use it, cut to make 2 off blanks 1.5" deep each instead of using the oak I mentioned in another post. I'd then have the oak + a spare beech blank for something else down the line. I bought it because I liked the pattern(s) in it - the outside of the block feels to be covered in wax, perhaps some of our woodbotherers [@The_Yellow_Ardvark?] can let us know why that is? It is obviously removed in cutting/turning.

However....I Googled 'spalted beech' and discovered that the patterns in the wood are caused by a fungus, harmless to most folk but potentially dangerous for folk like me with a compromised immune system from the myeloma.

So, unless the chap up the road can accommodate it in his band saw at 10", then turn it in his wood lathe to give the 'barrel edges' I'm after for the small project, it'll be going back to MacGregors for a refund, or at worst a credit note.

You learn something new every day.

The wax is to stop the blank drying too quickly and splitting, I do the same when I cut mine

Funnily enough I put premium diesel in it the morning it started playing up.
Will give it another test drive tomorrow but looks like it was the issue.

A general Radio Company toolkit for coaxial cable

No intrinsic value, but probably rare in complete condition.

Box number 2

A beautiful C. Baker microscope from the 1950s. No extra eyepieces but, nonetheless, a very nice piece.

A similar 1950s 'scope with a comprehensive range of eyepieces and other bits yet to be identified plus

A binocular adapter. I paid £100 for the lot and don't think I was done. I didn't even try to beat them down. It was house clearance, apparently, but I'm happy.

Both these started me thinking.
When I first bought my convoy I serviced it myself. the Jersey equivalent of eurocarparts gave me the filter for a tdci rather than a tddi by mistake. Finer filter and had identical issues.

Swapped it out this morning and it's been good as gold. Pulling better too.
Good news. Saves me running the car full of tools for a few days. Mot and service Wednesday

Glad it is sorted, I cut my old filter open after I had swapped it to check inside and it was black and gunky inside, it had only been on 11 months, think I might need a tank clean.
