got the DSG lathe home today and the meddings s68 swedish drill . lathe at 2.8 metres long just made it in the door by a few mm
both need a,bit recommisionig but be serious tools when up and running

That takes me back, I used to work at Fothergills Engineered Polymers in Bridgwater in the Special Projects Division. We use to make prototypes and one offs in prepreg, everything from the first Formula One safety cells, mammography plates, grappling hooks for the Special Services, mud guards for the Rapier rocket launcher and we even made a bonnet for Aston Martin to evaluate.
The prepreg would get skipped after it passed it's use by date, the management were quite open with us using it for our own projects after hours.
My favourite was a carbon fibre mug, I had it for years until it 'walked' on a camping trip.

Any use after its started to cure. Non structural (of coarse) I was thinking covering table tops, worktops. Flooring etc?

I'd be tempted to do some test squares, spray some release agent onto a couple of sheets of aluminium, lay a sheet of prepreg inbetween and pop it in the oven with a weight on it.
A can of PTFE or Silicone spray would work as a release agent.

i ts an aborga copy strand s68
ripped it apart to check it out bent spindle on motor and drive output obviously been dropped on its side and sheared g box mounting screws not been run so gears are in good nick thankfully. il straghten the shafts and replace spindle bearings
the small rack elevating gear is toast too but il build up the damaged tooth with the tig
will put a plug on the lathe next and adjust the clutches nephew gave it the once over and reckons its all good nick hes a machinist time served toolmaker

Handy to know if they are still there,
Only down the road from Bridgewater and may need some composite bits for wrc panels.

Unfortunately long gone, I was made redundant in 1989 when they were taken over by Courtaulds and we were given the opportunity to relocate to Coventry, out of the 180 odd staff I think 3 took the option.

Indeed. Seen a set of collets go for more than I paid for the lot.
Think im gonna keep it tbh.
Was going to strip what I want and sell the spares but looks in good shape.
No feeds just move the apron where your working and lock it in place.
