I was helping one of the mini miglia racers out at Pembrey a few years ago, he bent a track rod and steering arm. So how to change the track rod? I took a walk up and down the paddock, asked every team there if they had a stillson, miracurously someone did, so we jacked it all up, I got underneath with the stillson, and change it we did. I had some strange looks mind, mad Welshman attacks mini racer with monkey wrench...

How do you rewind it?

Don't have to deal with too many external torx bolts, but recently had a few that were on FT, and my chrome sockets took a bit of a beating with the impact to get them out.
So I decided to invest in some impact grade ones for future. Difficult to find cheap sets which are proper cr-mo and not just painted cr-v but these Sealey ones seem to fit the bill.
Got a couple of odd ones on clearance for the smaller sizes which i doubt i will ever use.

Also picked these up cheap (don't think I'd pay RRP!), bit of an odd design with an external 17mm hex. I'll have to see how well they hold up.

We dont need to rewind it, it gets sold in 2 3mtr lengths handily tied around some hay for easy storage

I have a stud removal tool like the one I think you're talking about (EXAMPLE).

The question is: Where is it? I've searched my shop and a couple of other likely hiding places, but no joy.

There are some exhaust manifold studs on my Dodge M37 that I need to replace, but the threads are damaged, so I can't use the doubled-nut method. I just bought the stud extractor tool shown below. It's a rather different design, and I haven't tried it yet, so we'll see how it goes.

Bought the same kit but with the extension hose, very reliable as recommended on this group and the hose makes it easy to get into awkward places.
