Thanks Nick, that’s fifty quid gone on drill bits…
Any advice you can offer regarding etching anodised aluminium? We have a laser at work (25W, I would guess) and have only ever used it with plastics and timber. I've always assumed it wouldn't touch metal. I have free access at work and wouldn't mind giving it a try.

Well not really as those were my first attempts, they did come out good however.
I can tell you the settings I used but mine is just a 10w diode laser. I used a feed of 100mm/s and full power.

Got this rj45 kit with those push through plugs, whoever thought of those needs a medal, rewiring the whole phone/internet system in this place atm and this is proving soooooooooooooo useful 
Treated it to a fatmax case.
Checking out the pasties in Aldi's and noticed this ferrex multitool, this looks like the mk2 version so I bought it.

A Horlick tin of old coins from my mum's . .
1950's pennies - seem old to me . . hang on, this one's 1920 . . . 1901 . . . 1895 . . . 1825 . . . flippin 'eck - 1797 !
Sent a photo to a mate group chat on Signal, as they are all in the US, just mentioning that the George bloke on it was probably still a bit upset at the time that they'd bug gered off on their own.
Had to look one slightly battered one up - text on both sides was clear and well defined, centres were polished a bit, the figure mostly gone - 1560 shilling!
That caused one of my US mates to point out it was older than their country (as declared anyway) .

Another bottle digging the garden.
A pretty little thing, of course my daughter has eyes on it due to the ornament gene.
Found out a bit more about my plot and that rather than this bit I'm digging being a historic midden, that there was a bomb crater there. General "stuff" got dumped in there first, later covered by spoil from when the house was built / extended.

I already have an imperial thread file, and a metric one. I didn't really look at these 2 when I bought them. I noticed one was metric, the other I couldn't really see. Turns out it's whitworth! Perfect! I seem to work on alot of whitworth stuff.

Not today but a couple of days ago I got one step closer to @8ob's perfect house. Directly above a man cave.
Wired in the lights in the new office before carpets start being fitted tomorrow and the day after. Toilet was all plumbed in provisionally to work out routing of pipes but has been removed for the vinyl to go down.

This is the headlamp tester I bought on Friday. It came with the wheels and stand etc this is just the main unit.
There is what looks like a small LED screen on top of it and a test light button. I presume that is a lux meter. So tomorrow I'll open it and replace the internal battery to see if that works again. But really these are quite simple devices.
This one has an LED alignment gauge too.
I paid £80 for it which I think is decent it would be £500 odd new.
The tinware is a bit rusty at the edges. So I may well be blasting and repainting it in the near future.
