I had one like that back in the 90s. The whip does go how you say.
I think mine had a BNC on the back.
The keypad died so it got scrapped years back. Shame as it was a good set.

It fires up and the keypad seems to work.
Opened it up. Looks like the chassis is ready for a coax connector:
By suggestions for a "wideband" scanner aerial? Cheap is good!

The manual HERE
- Buy the longest cheap telescopic-antenna you can get from the usual sources [coax inner contact].
- Take an about equially long simple wire as the counterweight (ground, minus, [coax outer contact]), length not critical, let it just bungling around.
- Vary the length of the telescopic rod to optimum for your frequency(-band).
- Done.

Am I right in thinking that hole is directly over the threaded stud on the PCB?
In that case you need a telescopic antenna that will thread onto it - available on ali-x for peanuts or even in the UK, if you know the thread size needed.
Adding a BNC or SO239 panel connector is simple.

Also managed to get a new wiring harness to replace the messed about original that is in a mess, good I can get a Lucas made in England cotton braided, even comes with a wiring diagram. Also a couple of new rubber grommets for my Matchless sidelights that have perished.

Will need to repaint the headlamp shell over the winter when I rewire it, someone has used hammerite on it in the past!

This is half way up "Half and Half" iirc.
I'm perfectly comfortable with the height, being up there holding onto the rock was fine, but I really didn't like letting go and trusting the rope. I think I just need to do it more and get comfortable with it, until this I'd only ever bouldered. Still enjoyed it, can't wait to go again.

You may be right about the aerial screwing onto the stud.
Down int' valley like I am, I doubt a small telescopic would pick up much. Certainly doesn't on broadcast FM. That and the fact it'll be used inside of various thick walls, some that are lined with foil faced Celotex. I even have to go upstairs and hang out of a window, to get one bar on the mobile!
External socket, roof antenna and a decent length of decent coax is the plan.
I'll open the case again in a minute and measure the mounting centres for the socket. Be nice to be able to go back to it being stock if need be. Thus I'll get laddo to print the blanking plate with a hole in.
Bit the bullet and chanced on this clone grinder,seller with very good feedback,I like the minimum packaging,but the gearbox was nearly devoid of grease and one of the screws wasn’t even in many turns,mysterious how they’ve left a pre drilled space for a nameplate .
Very similar to my makita and takes the regular STAR batteries.
Will try this for a few months before I chance on any more,at just £33 inc vat it COULD be a bargain.

Not today...but acquired the ability to do something new.
Definitely needed brown trousers ...my first attempt at cutting a kitchen worktop mitre joint.
Went well...it's just test fitted in the pic...not done the bolts yet. Main skill required is holding your nerve I think...theres no second chances...well not without spending £250!

A nice period fuel tank for my Stuart lighting set, spot of luck is the mix ratio on the cap is correct for my engine. Just got to think of a way to mount it now.

What oil out of interest would that be? Presumably you have to use a lead replacement additive in the fuel as well?

A beauty!Use stainless tin-strips with rubber underneath (like diesel-tanks on lorrys are fixed).
1/3 pint in 2 cal - What would the mixing ratio be in earthly units of measurement? Thank you.
It's a 2-stroke surely, no need for lead there ....

Today I aquired 6 panel beaters dollies , 2 panel beaters hammers , 2 pear shaped mallets , , never going to use them , have seen the prices on ebay , shocking , what would a fair price be for all of them ,I think they are all Syjes Picavant ,,,, unless a swap might be in order , w,h,y
