Good bit of kit, I still use one.

Great piece of kit.If I am correct there was a mirror behind the dial,so that you could line it up and get a true reading.Great for capacitors +ve to charge it and then reverse the leads. You could see the cap slowly discharge.

Too true, it could of been mine.

There is, to avoid parallax error. The error between the viewed reading and the true reading.

Very important when tuning a circuit and you are looking for a dip.

Yeah, I do that, take dead things and make them sellable, but only if the original item is broken, or unuseable / no point (like an old broken gieger counter or a couple of tilley lamps that had nasty holes and dents in them
