Doesn't sound too far off, I think they were about six quid in my school library, not with that silly carbon fibre wrap mind you. I've got a handful of them scattered around the house, don't think I've ever seen a scientific calc that wasn't one of those actually.

If you are anything like me and have calculators in the shed/workshop, you will know they have a tough time being operated with manky hands, and put down in coolant, etc carelessly, normally when you are in a hurry. My last casio died last year, so i made a note to pick up a new one. I was in the newsagents/stationers today and they were all expensive and made by sharp, a brand i am not that fond of. So i left it and went into Tesco to get bread etc.

I happened to be passing the stationery aisle and seen the calc's, 4 euros each for these. That cannot be right i thought, so i asked a passing staff member, "Oh yes, thats the price alright". Still not convinced, i took one to the help desk and asked for a price scan, yup 4 bills. So i bought a few of them as you can see. Already given 2 away to my nieces who have exams coming up.

Surely 4 quid cannot be correct ?

I'll bet most exams are now being taken remotely on computers, which also happen to have built in calculators.
I'll also bet the bottom has dropped out of the hand held calculator market due to this.....possibly...

If that's what they charged you that's correct enough.

Appears good, decent weight to it, will try later.

Cuts well. Little curly chippings, I think work needs wd40 as it was clogging up.

I still use my 1982/83 Casio Fx-350 which was about 15 quid. The Original CR2032 cells expired 5 years ago.

It doesn't work!!!

But then it was bought as new but not working from RDG.

Connect the power, push the button - zilch. BUT, the PC monitor flickered. Push the button a few more times and voila, the beast lives. Out with the contactor which comes apart without too much of a struggle, at least the buttons come off easily enough. The contact assembly is smaller and more fiddly.

Using a couple of thin steel wedges I'm nearly successful when they pop out and fall on the floor. As I bent down to pick them up I espied this



Not something I'd removed

I recalled my kitchen kettle which I got from a neighbour as a non-worker, which had had a small screw wedged in the switch mechanism, meaning that it wouldn't stay latched. I wonder if...?

Reassembled the unit, powered it on and it now works perfectly. It has all of the attachments and other bits and pieces, but is missing the LED lamp, very annoying

Another bonus with this variant is that it uses C5 collets, of which I have a few, and which cheap as chips when compared to the Deckel style ones.

Not too shabby for £395

What type of drill motor are you using, battery or mains powered ?

This is the old 20v lidl cordless. Nibbler doesnt take much power, even works on the 3.6v screw driver. I am quite impressed with it.
Ive seen mounting adaptors on amazon, a bore that locates the body and another locates the drill as a solid unit, and can be screwed to bench. I need one, but drill doesnt have a suitable boss for it. No reaaon this wouldnt run direct drive off a 775 motor so I might try to make something compact to drive it.

Lidl had compressed air enroller things the other day (Thursday).

Well, I was at work and about 10'ish I dragged the boss on a shopping spree.

They'd all sold out locally, we did two Lidl s, hey ho.

Bought some air compressor bits, flexible couplings, distributor ramps...

And the local FB marketplace threw up this compressed air, visseuse / devisseuse, not a drill, but takes standard 'embouts', screwdriver head things.

Thanks to @JEZGUZ this lovley condtion , Verdict England T1 DTI just what i was after!

Now if someone could explain how to use the stand bits to me that would be brilliant

Now for the stands i see the little cylinder extrusions fit in this bit of the clamp but the not sure how the clamp attachs to the actual DTI or how it holds it still , All I've managed is to parallel my vice in is clamp the top of DTI in jacobs

Then a moment , This was slammed through my letter box dropping to the ground with zero padding and therefore broke , I'm happy it broke now and now and not when it was spinning at 4,500 RPM but it bloody annoys me them shipping them bare someone is bound to get hurt spinning a semi fractured from postage stone
