That was a cunning plan.

The damage to the rest of the machine is more that the metal.

So, for speed and the fact I needed one last night. and for under £40. I brought out and got new.

The future for the old one? Not sure.

A visitor to the vice hospital came today. The Record No2 and 24 are nearing completion.

A lovely Fortis No11 and a Record No4 provided as payment.

A Record No4 an a 34 were dropped off for full restoration.

There are now no fewer than eight vices in my workshop! I’m going to have to sell one when the four which are being restored are gone!

Have quite an important job all next week delivering lengths of 60' rail to a site near Newcastle, so the 3" clamp will have a 30' length of rope attached to it make it a doddle to find the centre for lifting.

And as I'll have the same 2 flatbed artic lads with me all week, don't want them to think the new hiab man from Yorkshire is a miserable sod, hence the chocolate biscuits .

So time to play with new toys.

I had to buy some new tools for my play pen. I would of brought replacement parts to fix, but the cost made it uneconomical.

Wet and Dry Bench grinder.



Very quiet.
So play time.



Free hand. I need to look into getting a tool rest to hold the blades on the wet stone. But it does give a nice finish.

Was offered a trailer for free on the condition I got rid of all the crap that was in it.

Got it home today (just) seems the leaf springs might have made a bid for freedom on the way home luckily nothing happened

So need to sort getting rid of everything 1st new springs then aa genaral tidy up.

Has ramps to the rear and appears to have a drop down gate at front of trailer aswell with caged fronts and sides

I’ve tried all tool holders, rests etc. Freehand is the best. It just takes practice and patients

The marking tools I made in another thread were free hand.

Tell you what. Swap you a special hammer for a sleazily sharp thing
