I can't get over using an analogue tacho again.Cant be doing with all the different wallets and pouches so I bought a gurt wallet that houses the lot
I've been using digitals ever since they came out, so my brain is getting a workout remembering my drive times and rest periods. Mind you, the advantages make up for that

Found near work walking picked up i notice on opening some plastic had become brittle and been smashed by the staple force so made a temp repair and all working fine (will have to make a trip up to poundland for a chopping board to file down to replace the wood stop)but if that happens before the wood bit breaks or it last for years who knows
Oh and dont try to remove Budweiser beer twist caps by taping the top off on an metal edge as it snaps the glass not opens the bottle

Riding a bike makes you scan the road ahead for anything that might endanger me. It was a fair distance off, I had plenty of time to double check my mirror, the bus behind had stopped to drop off, and there were no vehicles coming towards me that might of got spooked by my sudden stop and exit.
It wasn't far off a little indy garage. I’m off past again next week, might pop in and see if any of the fitters have lost anything. I hate having one off spanners as much as I hate incomplete sets
Had a ride out on Friday. stopped by the two garages local to where I found it, neither had lost a Facom spanner. So looks like Im lumbered with it

Yes I was delighted to find that you couldn’t use them on paper at uni doing landscape architecture when I bought them! Made your work look proper professional though. I’d have master drawings on film which I could scan into the printer and print onto A3, then colour, scan back in and print out full colour - got rid of any bleed through and kept your masters safe. The complete process would take about six to eight hours given you’d have to come up with a concept that worked too. It’s mostly digitised now, so that’s all a thing of the past.

Looks to be a long rolled sign and the knobs on the side wind it around. Much like old style bus destination signage.
Simple piece of kit, you turn the black knobs on the side to alter the numbers, similar to how buses used to change the routes in the window above their cabs by winding a handle, like so:

. It's s a legal requirement in the UK that any vehicle whose travelling height exceeds 3 metres is fitted with a height warning indicator such as this, so for the sake of a few quid it's not worth not having one. Strangely, the figures are in imperial but have to be a minimum of 40mm high

Yes, and I flinched noticeably going under every bridge between the centre of Dewsbury and Barking.

Good job you weren’t bring it down the M180/A180, there are/were more than two bridges that are slightly lower than 16’6” due to the poor road surface we seem to get. I believe there have been 4 bridge sections replaced in as many years after oversize loads have come in to contact with them.
A pair of brewing vessels left Immingham docks last year and took the A18/A46/A1 route around to the M18/M1 due to bridge heights along the M180.

I still prefer opening bottles off another. Educating kids on what to do when nothing else available.

Just figuring out leverage and your finger as a pivot point.
Can do it with lighters or anything harder than the cap it tough.
Opening a bottle with a spoon makes people giggle.

Though I've had the same bottle opener on my keyring since I was 13. Found it in a pair of Rice's skates I bought.
Use it for opening tins of paint these days.
A lighter always worked for me.

The dozy sod who was the subject of the "Muppetry at its finest" thread loaded a plastic water tank last year from Flocktons, across the A180 from Moody Trucks.
Didn't check the height of it and promptly clobbered a bridge on the A180. Pieces of plastic pipework rained down onto passing cars, one of whom rang up and quite rightly complained, predictably he kept going but later received a written warning...
