Thanks for this handy to know, how do I stand sleeping in a motor home parked at the side of the road? ( No Beer involved) Just waiting for the Hospital to open in the morning. I know Scottish laws can be different?

Not 100%. Not sure if it's allowed but I'd be staggered if you were stopped. I've stopped all over the place, most people do. It'll usually say if you're not allowed. There are plenty of lovely places. If you go to the dark sky park in Galloway forest it's amazing.

I don't believe this is unique to Scotland but you could absolutely fall foul of being Drunk In Charge of a Motor Vehicle - https://www.ibblaw.co.uk/service/road-traffic-offences-private-clients/drunk-charge-motor-vehicle

Guy I worked with was done for exactly this scenario: he had travelled to Yorkshire in his camper van, parked in a public car park, had a few beers and was woken up, arrested and charged. He was in the back of the van at the time.
Technically, it's little different to being found drunk and asleep in your car, in your drive. Not being in the driver's seat isn't a defence.

Sounds like the copper's speed gun was broken that night and he needed to find another "criminal" to arrest

OK here about but some tourist parts of Scotland have no overnight parking signs in lay-bys and plod used to drive round moving campers on in the middle of the night.

I was going to post exactly that .
It's best to check thes days with tourist boards in Scotland , as I suspect being nasty like that is one of Auntie Nick's spiteful legacies that may yet come and bit many bums north of the border .

Well we are back
Drove up late Friday just parked in a Random street of Posh Houses near the centre avoiding the Emission zone, drove the lat 20 mins in the Morning.
Went to Portobello beach for breakfast, then drove the coast roads south towards Berwick, nice ride out and found a few places to return to once the weather is better
Hospital looks good let hope they can fix her?

A small update
The dogs now back after 5 weeks of treatment so lets hope she is now ok?
Still recovering as they can be ill form the radiation for a few more weeks
The Royal Dick were great.
It was interesting to find some procedures are cheaper done by an in-house specialist than our local jobbing vet

Oh and this place was great for food they even let dogs in.
