So out of interest as the replacements are sold separately would it be sensible to buy a cheaper kits and a few better replacements and keep the kit originals for future jobs not so critical?
Cheers John. That's the bleed nipples sorted. Now what to do with the hydraulic lines that do go on and off occasionally. The V coil inserts are fine .
The more costly kits have a better quality tap .
If I am asked to do a thread I do not have normally the customer supplies the kit .
I do the repair free but get to keep the kit .
That calliper would take a wire insert no problem at all .
If you havent used coils before, try on a bit of scrap first. I found if you keep pressure on the insert when fitting, it will jump across threads - you need to turn a bit, release pressure, turn a bit more.
Nothing wrong with the cheapest sets, Ive got 6 of them.

I am guessing a time sert would be better.
Interesting have you got a photo of one. I am not sure what you mean female banjo.?There is an installation tool for them that avoids that issue.
Or just fit a female banjo into the caliper and leave it in there. Then disconnect the brake lines from that.
I am looking to replace the threads in Brembo Brakes and need M10 x 1.0 internal thread. With whatever they come with outer thread.
Helicoil is a lot cheaper but I am not sure if they are good on brakes.
Biggish ones work - M30 - used to hang several tonnes of machine from for transport.Almost all my 'Helicoil" sets are Völkel V-Coil, they really good. Don't use Time-Serts due to availability, but the V-Coils are incredibly strong. I use them on all sorts of things, M10x1.0 i usually use on glowplugs and never had an issue, but i have bigger sizes i've used on things like engine mounts and they've always been reliable.

I see now. I did a search and thought I could see what you meant. It's the fact the hydraulic lines have a male cone in the caliper they seal to.. that confuses me.Something like that in 10mm/10mm

Fit the banjo bolt into the helicoiled part with a couple of copper washers and then you won't need to disrupt it again as you can remove the hose from the banjo if required.
Or, use a nipple to do the same job.

It might be tricky to find a m10/m10 one of those though.
Probably easier to find a nipple first as if you can only find m12 male to m10 female then you would want a m12 helicoil fitted.
I have used nipples before that I think were 3/8" male and the 3/8 helicoil is close enough for an existing m10 caliper hole

I don't suppose you can find a link to 10mm 1.0 threads that look like this.I use 'Torques UK' on evilbay for most of my brake and fuel pipe/fittings. Very reasonable compared to Earls and Goodridge.

I would like to do a repair with a helicoil and loctite a fitting in but retaining the facility to remove brake lines if needed without pulling the threads out of the calipers.
