NOTE EDIT SHOULD HAVE SAID MQL RATHER THAN A MIST SYSTEM
Wondered what people’s real world experience is of running mist systems are. I am wondering how much lubricant needs to be introduced into the air stream and if it can be done in a workshop for a none enclosed machine. ?
Does anyone know how many ml of coolant is typical used per minute ?
Is it worthwhile recover the run off or should I just consider this as a consumable
I bought a very cheap misting system off Amazon £7.00 and it works poorly and as everyone pretty much states the metering arrangement doesn’t work very well. The actual flexible hoses and fitting look pretty good. My thought is to deliver the coolant into the mister body via a peristaltic pump driven from a stepper motor on my spare 4th axis. The should provide a very high degree of metering, I may even be able to switch between misting and full flood depending stepper speed. I would also have the ability of pulsing the coolant which is what I do now using a spray can by hand
cheap pump including the stepper motor is only around £25 so I thought it worth experimenting with.
