Looking around I was amazed to see we didn't have a "things you have found today" thread I mean, come on, half of us cannot find our own way home most days. Anyhow back to the plot, looking through one of my filing cabinets I found something (something else) to depress me. One of the very few vehicles I really regret no longer having though somebody is enjoying it as it is taxed, all I have are memories and an old MOT ticket:

Clearing me old dad's place last year I came across this engine valve, I found it at an old train repair place in Bedford that we were stripping in the early 80s and kept it as souvenir as an 18 year old does
Though it was long gone when he chucked all the good stuff out!

There's something quite nice about having a "911" registration on a Ferrari.

Clearing me old dad's place last year I came across this engine valve, I found it at an old train repair place in Bedford that we were stripping in the early 80s and kept it as souvenir as an 18 year old does

Apparently they make a good makeshift anvil/beating block, I was told once.

I always have a sturdy lorry size valve in my tool box, very handy as a general purpose punch or drift ..the head of the valve making a nice striking end so you don't smack your hand with the hammer

Yesterday I was looking for some Tiger Balm to try out on a rash I’ve developed. Not sure if it’s flea bites, mosquitoes or heat rash.
Anyways, digging through my old motorcycle touring drawer, all the old bike travel stuff, unused for 5 years now…. and I found a scruffy old envelope with £20 notes inside it. I counted it crudely with my fumble fingers, and there’s over £1100 in it.


I’ve no idea why it’s there, or what it’s for, so either it’s been there ages and slipped my mind, or it’s only just been put there and my brain has lost track of it.

What’s even weirder is that I gave my daughter a grand for her birthday on Sunday, but that was by phone banking transfer.

No idea to be honest, there used to be loads of industries that way, a big piano manufacturer, wolfrace wheels and loads more I can't even remember!

Age thing
When the wife and her sister were cleaning out their dad’s house they found best part of 9K, a year previous after their mother died they found nearly 12k. The majority of it in old notes, thankfully the bank changed them. Their dad hadn’t a clue about the 12 K.
