I'll never understand that. In my eyes the buyer is the victim not the proper owner. The land registry change was obtained using fraudulent means, it should be reversed now that the crime has been discovered.

TBH if there should be someone out of pocket it should be the conveyancers.

Absolutely right I would and justifiably so, but when you OWN something, you own it, it's yours. The fact that someone has managed to use it as bait in a fraud should never be able to change that fact.

Also allowing the buyer to keep property just because they have deeds that were fraudulently obtained opens the door for opportunistic copycat frauds. Want a 200 grand house? No problem, just find a suitable property and someone willing to do a couple of years bird for 10 grand to be the fall guy.

my opinion here they frauded

then the lot should be removed from them anyone that gained from it

that includes there houses as well dosnt matter if its in a partners or childrens names if your part of the scam you loose the lot of it

same with big companies there part of the problem go bankrupt but you cant have my house as its my partners name

one of the news reports says they didn’t do all the check properly, this only happens when they don’t want to do them properly

Hi, Solicitors or conveyancers, who are licenced, are in positions of trust. They are supposed to be a firebreak in the process to stop this happening. So it's simply an abuse of trust so they should have their licence to operate removed or a custodial sentence. That should focus their minds. They do it to MOT testers. Land registry don't help by having the deeds electronically with no apparent checks.

There should be extra time given for dishonesty, if the people involved were in a position of trust, a policeman, solicitor, priest, mp etc.
