I don't understand the issue with the remote on the torch?
Mine has numbers on it and adjusts the amps on the display just by turning it. I don't have to unplug anything.

I didn't explain well Mr shiney if you try to set maximum amp on the machine itself with the torch connected you can't you can only adjust them on the rotary switch. And the adjustment on the torch switch in my opinion is kind of rough especially if you have the full range from 5 to 200 amps and you can only change that range on the machine with the torch unplugged. For instance if you want the torch dial to control between 5 to 100 you have to disconnect the torch (or remove the switch) and use the set the current on the machine to 100 and then reconnect the torch
I generally leave the board current at about 100amps and work the pedal to suit for most dc stuff,
often a bit higher on ac.
That's not how mine works!
I dial what I want on the machine and then use the rotary knob on the handle to dial it up and down. I don't have to unplug anything.
That's interesting. I wonder why they are different? Mine is only a few weeks old and the torch control looks different to yours and clearly works differently.
I would say you got the better deal here, Antonio's sounds a head ache to use that switch. If it was mine I would not care if it worked or not as I wouldn't use it.That's interesting. Do you have a water cooler also then. Is that a thermal arc.
I have an older thermal arc 250ac/dc machine and it works the same as Antonio's but the pedal I use is homemade. Possibly if I added a different switch that disconnected the variable resistor when the pedal is released it would be better but I just added a switch in the side to disconnect it and check the upper limit that way.
I don't understand why they are different though. I just went to the workshop and did a sanity check and my torch button alters the amps up and down on the display as I said and the front knob works as it should as well.
I wonder if you have a problem with the torch?
