Hi new here i recently got hold of the thermal arc 175te for cheap as not working kept blowing fuses upon inspection i noticed a blown capacitor and a bad ibgt so i ordered new and replaced them. The machine powered up for a second a went bang and blew the same cap upon further research, inspection and testing i came across the thermistor.
Now here is the problem it has no markings apart from XR its green in colour dia is 13mm and 4mm thick so im struggling to find a replacement not knowing the correct values any help would be greatly welcomed.
Also after alot of research i noticed thermistors can be PTC and NTC mine is just after the bridge rectifier before the 240.dc hits the capacitors so my thinking is faulty thermistor meaning to much voltage hitting the caps to soon before they charge causing them to blow am i miles off thinking this?
And also looking at the difference between NTC and PTC the board has PTC on it but looking into it and others it seems there welders have a NTC not a PTC would the PCT written on the board be just a genetic thing? because the way they work it seems mine would need to be a NTC but with no markings on mine its hard to tell hopefully someone here will be able to help me
Thanks
Darren.
