I have yet to hear of anybody who has had a smart meter fitted and is paying less for their electric than before....it’s a con...

plenty of people are fooled by it. Scottish power rang me up to fit one and the lad was giving me the patter. I asked how it saved money without reducing the kwh rate and how much are you charging he couldn't answer and I told him im an electrician so I should know he said have a nice day and the phone went dead the only saving is by the supplier doing meter readers out of a job

We had our smart meters fitted last year, not had any problems with them. I don't know how it's doing readers out of a job as we hadn't seen one for years and I was doing them online anyway. It fills them in on the computer for me now so it's just saving me a job

a pointless waste of money as most of them aren't universal so when u change suppliers like we did they don't work all that advertising and cost of meters and fitters would have been better spent on lowering peoples bills . if its not broke don't fix it

No as above but it doesn't cost me any either and it's convenient. It's not changed the way we use the gas and electricity,we have gas heating and cooker is electric. The little display thing is a distraction for so long then it gets turned round to face the wall.

The one saving I have made from having a smart meter fitted is the cost of having an isolator switch fitted and the rats nest between the meter - Henley block - house CU - shed cu tidied up as part of the meter installation lol.

They can but you need to change to a supplier who can offer daily or hourly rates (only one i know of is octopus) and be very strict about when you use electricity.

There has been times when octopus has offered negative pricing as there has been a surplus of generation due to wind power.

It’s an information system, that’s all. It lets you know where you are spending money.

At least I now know that shoving the daughter into the garden, with a hose pipe, is saving me at least a tenner a week.

I woke up today, 10 am, to find my daily usage is already over £1.30

Apart from daughter having a shower nothing else has been running, so any chance the lightening has messed with the Smart meter readings?

Nothing on, only daughter and me in the house. Both in bed since midnight, only thing that has used my power is the shower, this morning, and she can’t have been in it for 3 hours or more.

Probably lost a days readings due to lightening, and added to the next.
These things are a waste of time - I asked the dick who phoned me about having one read my export cue him telling me I needed a fits meter, waffle waffle. No says I, I have a fits meter , I want your new clever meter to record export so you can pay me for it. Got nowhere, so I told him to stuff it.

The benefit for me is never getting a huge bill every 2 or 6 months.

Every 6 months, they notify me they've raised or lowered the monthly DD.

Previously it was estimated, read occasionally, generally resulting in bills.

They don't save you money.

Mine dont work....still have to send meter readings and I think they have interfered with the signal from my Ring Camera Doorbell

Our signal runs down the meter cabling.

It's not Wi-Fi ieness. Or whatever.
