Most of the aldi/lidl tools i have bought were junk, the pin punch set that was made of dead mild steel, first time i used them they were like a dogs hind leg

was just about to mention the set of 3 centre punches from ebay. First tap of the mallet and the point flattened off and made no mark in the steel i was trying to punch

Had a Kennedy cebtredotting punch from fleabay. Went to dot some hole positions on some hot rolled 304 bar and it just moulded the end round into a flat. Clarke pro ratchets are a bit poo...

When I first compress a spring for the front end of my VW golf, many years ago, we didn't know about them spring compressor things, we used a 6 foot crow bar to compress and blue nylon rope to tie it down....looking back now we must have been mad and lucky!

Those metal squares from Aldi are fantastic.....put the pack of 3 on top of each other and they all have a different edge line

What do you think of kennedys other tools lmb ? The local engineers suppliers do a lot of it. I bought a few morse taper adaptors and they seem ok.

I think the worst junk has to be them cheap ebay 3 jaw pullers...dont pull straight and those little nuts and bolts on the link bars that have them tight and the jaws cant move and have them slack means your juggling wishing you were born with 8 fingers to keep them locked onto your job....total crap.

I always use the heavy duty cable ties as back up when doing anything with large springs, dunno if they would hold the pressure of a car suspension spring though. Had a nasty experience fannying around with an airgun spring when i was a daft teenager, had it clamped in a sash clamp when it decided it wanted out, bouncing off every wall in the shed, always used the cable ties after that.

I've used ratchet tie-downs on motorcycle springs before now to compress them. Used 3, spaced at 120 degrees to make sure. Did the job fine, but I was nervous throughout...

It's just like when you get those pliers which when you try twisting/bending something with them, you suddenly realise that the piece you're trying to bend hasn't moved and that its the pliers which are twisting/distorting.

We've got a few sets of Kennedy Allen keys on the cncs and they seem ok. I think that's about it.

I had an early Black and Decker 1/3rd of a sheet Orbital Sander. You could only hold the sander for a couple of minutes before you had to let go because of the vibration! It wasn't a case of White Finger but White hand.
It had the added bonus of making all your fillings come loose!

I've got one that fits one of the old B&D metal bodied drills inherited from my father, must admit I've never tried it though.
