Some advice from someone who borrowed a home made one such as this. The pivot is crucial - looks like you've given that some thought. The next thing are the clamps. Get some (valve) springs under the top member (does it have a name?) around the clamp studs. Then, weld some tube and t bolts to the clamping nuts. you'll be able to slide in, clamp down much easier. This one mod made all the difference to my borrowed one. I also welded an old socket to the lever, so I can slip in a breaker bar to exert some bending.Clamps are some bolts / thread a peice of angle with a slot in and some big nuts as washers

To adjust the thickness I have these off cuts with a bolt in to save me lining up the top every time I unclamp it

Gave everything a quick once over removing sharp edges ground the front of the clamping bar and tested it out

That has came out a lot sharper than on the old bender, not perfect but it is 2mm @ 380mm or so
Another scrap thrown in 1.2mm nearer 600mm it didn't spring back as much as the 2mm so went past 90 on this one but at least I've fixed it, for now.......

Just thought, I couldn't have used valve springs because the top and bottom come together. Dam, I'll have to go and have a look.
i was thinking the same thing, why on earth would you do all that?!Oh my giddy aunt....
Doing a grand job mate, hats off to yaI think I've mentioned earlier in the thread but this is my first attempt at a restoration ( if you can call it that ) on this scale so, any tips, help pointers are more than welcome
