The search for missing items!

We had somone come quote for some work a few months back, they didnt have a measure and used ours (which happened to be out on table) and then left with it!

Tape measures are like cigarette lighters, if it's unattended it's fair game.

Got two Edding751 marker pens which went missing for a little while...
Found them in my overalls leg pocket - as I pulled them out of the washing machine

Just tried them - working fine after an hour washing at 40C

Still not found my strongest magnet, though

Went looking for my DeWalt cordless drill on Thursday. Wasn't in the loft where it usually lives.
Not in the spare bedroom with the TIG sets, bike tyres and bass guitar.
Not in the van, under my bed or behind the sofa
Oh, it must be in the workshop at work.
Ransacked the place, even looked under my desk and that's not for the faint-hearted... nowhere to be seen.
On Friday I emailed round the staff asking if anyone's 'borrowed' it thinking it was company property, drew a blank.

Thinking back, the last time I definitely remember using it was out on a job in a science park - two bloody years ago.
Guess I'll never see that again.

Also the tape measure was a decent, new, 8M one, bought to replace a cheapy that sliced my finger open a few days before. I'd have been quite happy if he took the cheap one but instead I am still using it!

A fault code reader. Lent to someone who lost it.

A bullfinch blowtorch with a burner the size of a baked bean tin. Lent to someone who denied having it.

A 7mm 1/4 drive socket. Nestling on top of the freelander engine undertray

I had a Gunsons CO meter. Lent it out, forgot to whom, whoever it was has never seen fit to bring it back. When I eventually realised it was missing (as in, not where I expected to find it despite not having seen it there for years) I asked around the usual suspects, then got them to put the word out to associates I hadn't seen in a while... nothing.
I eventually concluded that the likely suspect emigrated to the Philipines (he had a son with a woman from there)... he may well not still be with us as he was getting on then, and I'm talking at least 15 years ago.

I think screwfix are giving 2 away...not sure how much you have to spend though..

Well they were.

They do still have two Stanley ones for 9.99 if anyone's interested.

I was searching everywhere for a large imperial allen key. Couldn't find it anywhere. Then I had a horrible thought. I turned off the Holbrook H20 and checked. Yes there it was - in the very hard to reach hex bolt directly above the main pulley and it's 4 V belts
Good job the Holbrook runs so smoothly.
Wouldn't have hurt me but might have damaged my precious

I utterly detest tool thieves.
So much so, in that situation above I'd be calling the business owner up and raising stink about it.

2 weeks ago at about 9pm my neighbour called around in a panic to see if I had an extended T bar to fit his stopcock. Yup no problem . Job now sorted but no sign of T bar. It's an emergency tool and I don't want to be traipsing around trying to find it or remembering where it's gone . So first and last lend ,matey.
