I’m really not someone to be nasty about other peoples work in the right environment. This however is taking it to another level.

So this box I moved weighs 60ton. That welding is holding the frame together underneath it. Also in the last pic you can see how the frame has folded whilst lifting it how they wanted it lifted. I’m quite alarmed someone’s actually approved this. This also is the second I’ve seen like this.

But in the day and age of equality without discrimination even blind people can be weld inspectors.

The driver, If its on the road being driven. Then it's the drivers responsibility. Not that I agree with that. Where I used to work, a wagon overturned carrying BMW parts, The police investigation blamed an adverse camber. I was loading another wagon when it was being loaded. Totally down to bad loading by the FLT driver. Funny, when I loaded them, they never fell over on the same route, same driver,

Isn't it : The drivers responsibility, to ensure the load is safely attached / secured.

Not the drivers responsibility if it has badly welder points, and it could collapse due lack of quality control ?

It's not up to the driver to sign off whether an object is structurally sound.

The driver is charged with transporting it safely.

I mean, its not elegant, but is it really weld that we are seeing in the majority of locations?

Normally when you knock the slag of you are left with a bead.

This case you are left with snot

It looks relatively recent, inconsistent, inadequate sized welds.

I am not a pro welder, or structural engineer.....

But that looks a bit crap.

actually they cant ,,, n5 vision test pass cert is required ,,,, but it looks like they can be welders instead .

how can you say that from a picture ,,, it may not be pretty but thats a different issue , 60 tons of steel wasnt cheap , so Ill bet some one with relevant qualifications or experience will have signed for it as ok.
Trouble is that on the internet every ones an expert.

Context required before getting too carried away - if its simple, one way only, transport frame, then different criteria to something expect to last a lifetime.

If you looked at the welding on the frameworks around our last couple of million quid machine centersall the way from Italy you might decide a blind YTS new starter who had lost their specs had done the welding - but for what it was and what it needed to do, it was fine.

i don't know if the whole frame is like this or "just" an addition but i think the saying goes "Ruff Enough"
Although i would be getting someone to sign a disclaimer to tow it if the whole thing has that much pigeon droppings!!!

Given there was 60 tons sitting on those "supports", I don't think you have to be too expert to think those welds don't really look up to the job.
