Lady friend of mine is on Warfarin, due to AF. Her legs have swollen up into blotchy lumpy messes, and she has to get her blood tested once a week at the GP, who continually tweaks her dosage to get the bloody viscosity right. Sounds like a right fiasco, but she's been on it for years.
She has a scar a foot long down the middle of her chest, where a heart valve or two were replaced when she lived abroad. One valve is mechanical, it can be heard ticking/clicking inside her chest.

Doubt if it's the diet causing that, unless you're supplementing it with ganga?...I'm on day 3 <30g/d carbs. Gets easier now. Fasting becomes relatively easy also. Miss a day's food not an issue. Fluid important. My carbs are a bowl of Allbran first thing.Off to see the GP in an hour or so, one month since my initial scare of 190/100. Measured my bp last night and the third reading came in as 121/68 @ 56 That's the lowest I've ever had. I've lost 4kg in weight, which is negligible but the first drop in two years...and I feel a lot healthier.
However, I've started getting a sort of numb burning feeling in the front of my thighs when I'm stood still doing something for more than a few minutes. Or when I lie flat on my back in bed for a few minutes. It faded away the first few times, but I can feel it lingering today.
I can't imagine how or if this is related to my change of diet and suchforth, but it just seems so typical that as soon as I get rid of one worrying issue, another pops up.
Don't want Dynarod or an Excorcist involved. Want to get weight off my feet. Big toe is painful, plus so is most of the rest of me.

10 weeks later I've dropped 10kg, drink a bit less, feel far better, BP is normal, I sleep far better, no more wierd breathing problems and attendant anxiety. It once got to the stage where merely looking at my bed would give me awful fearful anxiety.Doubt if it's the diet causing that, unless you're supplementing it with ganga?...I'm on day 3 <30g/d carbs. A lot of that was too much drinking, but late night snacking also added to the sleep dramas. And alcohol reduces the effectiveness of the Mirtazapine anxiety meds I've been on for several years.
It's all interconnected, part of life's rich tapestry.
The lovely young lady I see quite often in the electric wheel chair has a prosthetic leg, I saw her without her blanket on this morning. Reality check, moment of clarity.

I had several phone calls from the GP surgery last Friday.
It all started a week earlier with a call from the GP registrar (trainee GP) I'm having to deal with - phone consult only, no face to face if they can get away with it, I've yet to have a D R E over the phone - and a lecture about taking ALL my medication.
Upshot was check BP for the week and phone in the average (rather than do a proper diary). As I was passing I called in and told the receptionist that Dr O wanted my average BP for the last week, she was not sure how to put it on the system, so someone else showed her how.
Three hours later after leading our local healthy walking group, I get home to an urgent message on the answer phone to immediately phone the surgery.
Phones them and speak to somebody who asks what my BP figure I gave in the morning and why had I done that, 160/90 and Dr O had requested it.
Twenty minuets later another call to confirm my BP and am I feeling OK. "Yes just done a 3 mile walk easily".
Hour later it's Dr O this time - empty room and phone on hands free does make life difficult - and he starts lecturing me again about taking my medication as an average of 190 would indicate it had been spiking at over 200. I said the average for the last 7 days WAS 160/90 - some idiot had transposed the nos. and everybody was panicking.
I suppose I should be grateful they followed it up. Was even more interesting going online to read my medical notes and the entry for my BP was missing - would have seen who entered it wrong.
I'm not going to say anything about the hospital forgetting to book a head MRI after a suspected stroke.

I had a letter this morning telling me that seeing as I have moved house (over 3 years ago) I need to find a different GP surgery, as I am outside of their area.....
I've been with my current GP 21 years, and even through the covid farce I've always managed to get an appointment of some sort when I needed one, so I'm dreading what I shall find in whatever place I move to.
Nearest one to my current gaff has 8 reviews on their NHS page, all 1 star.....

I'm about 13 years younger than you. High BP seems to run in my family and all the oldies take pills for it despite being slim. I guess it's probably in my future too. My BP is always on the high side of normal with regards the upper number. Usually something like 130/ 80. The only thing which lowers it for me is lots of cardio, like cycling up hills 90-150 minutes a week. That gets it down to about 120/75.

Has your bp come down ?
If it hasn't get some different drugs or do whatever to get it down .
I thought it was all just a bit of drama about nothing - till it went a bit wrong ! The warnings were there but being invincible I didn't listen .

Something I'd never heard of, my BIL has just had a 7 hour heart op is now suffering from "post-op psychosis" apparently he's seen dogs running down the corridors at the hospital and all the nurses go to the nursing station for a fag!, my sister isn't happy as they were not warned of this side effect of the op as she's found out it's quite common.
