Vertu has taken over Bristol Street motors in Gloucester, spares system now seems pathetic. I needed a specific o ring, “next day delivery sir” it took 5 days!

Vertu was born out of BSM, they kept both brands running for 'legacy' customers and moved everything over to the Vertu brand as the dealerships came up for refurbishment.
Parts supply is usually down to the manufacturers system but Vertu do try and pare down non service & maintenance parts holding to the bare minimum.

It is not possible for them to be worse than the last incumbents, I binned them so long ago, I can't even recall their name. As an example, I could buy as a retail customer individual oil filters via Ebay significantly cheaper than buying 10 off trade priced from the same business, different branch. Their customer service was utterly appalling, the local rep wouldn't pick up his 'phone, nor return calls. It was so much better when their parts were handled in house.

It can be, Vertu push very hard for upsell and you're given a target per vehicle, which is probably OK for filter-spinners or maint. tech's, once you get onto warranty work, you're on a hiding to nothing.... With Vertu, you can hit your bonus target as hard as you like, but unless you also hit your upsell target, no bonus for you that month - which puts you in a mood because of all the effort you put in to hit your bonus target...
Sometimes it's a house of cards - one leaves, the rest get itchy feet..... or sometimes it's a management change.... Generally, the more training you do within a brand, the more likely you are to stay - rather than go through it all again with another brand...
It's just one big magic roundabout really!

The guy in charge is an accountant I believe, so all numbers will be crunched, every penny is a prisoner and all that. Spares sat on a shelf is dead non working capital. My daughter works for them, they pay her well, and shes learnt “ smile keep taking the money”

Yep, he is/was - all the sites are on a 'live link' into the group accounting software, he micro-manages every penny, every hour of the day. A terrible way to live, for the dealership managers and him. I was in the same room as him once, eyes like a shark and the personality of wet cardboard....

Well a bit of an update on this original post.
My car has now been with the dealership 2 weeks, yesterday I phoned them, told the same story, could be weeks before they can look at again, workshop is fully booked for 6 months, Hyundai Tech have a massive backlog blah blah blah, I lost my patience at that point.
I emailed the CEO of Hyundai UK, not expecting an answer, 4 hours later got an email from their executive team asking for information regarding the service I had received and the time scales I have been quoted, they gave me a reference number and said that this problem was totally unacceptable and is now being overseen at management level within Hyundai.
I’m to expect an update very soon apparently.
It really should have been the lease company who did this not me but as long as the end result works out positively!

Your arguement is firmly with who you are paying - you are "renter" - the car is leased - you are paying the rental company - the people you "leasing" the car off/from. The row is with - the company you are paying - the company who owns the car and are is renting it to you...
You got nowhere to go with the dealership - you rowing with - you can't get them into court - there deal is with the finance house who is renting you a car... You not there customer - you just a non paying third party.

Went into my local NAPA and they didn't have what I wanted. Made a crack it stands for "never any parts available".

They agreed with me that if a solution was not forthcoming very soon that there was grounds to reject the car, yesterday I asked them to do that and the person I’ve been dealing with was going to speak to his director in order to do that.
Then this morning I decided I’d try myself, and if you’re going to try to get a problem solved, then who better to go to, the CEO
And that’s how this unfolded, I gave them the info they requested, and only then told them it was a lease car, I gave them the name of the lease company and told them that the lease company was now considering rejecting the car, this was after they initially responded to my email telling me they were going to make a case of this.
Then the lease company got in touch with me saying they just had an email from senior management level at Hyundai due to my intervention, clearly the lease company who escalated their issue had not gone high enough up the food chain as they were getting no where.
So maybe I overstepped my position
But I don’t give a **** as long as something gets done.

Would the trading standards people route be helpful ? Tome the goods /service contracted for is obviously not up to a merchantable standard & they have failed to supply you with a working car as agreed in your contract .
YouTube , WhatsApp and Facebook .... could they be an ideal opportunity to have them over a bad publicity barrel if they don't get it sorted ASAP

I’m really hoping it doesn’t come to that, it’s a new car, it must be surely a single component which is causing this, theoretically it should be a case of diagnosing the issue and fixing the problem, it should be a simple job if the mechanics can isolate the issue, however long it takes to come to a conclusion and repair, I’ll be making sure that the period that the car is in the workshop equals the extra time they give me free of charge at the end of the lease contract, or they will be hearing from my lawyer.
Hopefully it won’t come to that, the cost of losing a future customer would cost them more.

I had something similar with my EV when the main climate controlled failed...this also controlled all the fans too so it couldn't be driven unless all the windows were down.
After a lot of inaction I sent letters to both the dealership and lease company saying I was going to reject the car....once it was in writing things moved pretty quickly and they gave me a courtesy car and then fixed it pretty quick!
I think the first 30 days is your strongest period so you do need to log the issues promptly.

Well no I haven’t been given a car with 640 HP, it’s a similar sized though a Ford Kugar, it’s a car, goes from a to b, nothing fancy, my wife loves it, so that’s a positive, personally I don’t like it, it’s slow as hell and has cheap ditch finder Chinese tyres, corners in the wet like a boat.

The Chinese EV will probably have Chinese ditchfinders on it too, but I digress ..................
It is outrageous that this is happening. If it was a £30 electrical item you could just swallow it, but for something that costs as much as it does, this just shouldn't happen. It should be replaced immediately, as it is obviously not up to snuff.
I know this is leased, so why do they not just give you another one ? What is going to happen when it is out of warranty ? This seems to happen a lot, and is a warning to anyone actually considering buying
