Hi all,
I have the following shaft that sticks into the following hole...
it currently has this white stuff on it that has clearly been squirted on there as a liquid and allowed to harden inside the hole to "take up the slop" in the poor fitting spline fitment. (size of said white stuff i would guess as between 0.5 and 1 mm thick
the splines that i wish to fit into said hole have had this white stuff removed as its really brittle and some chimp (may or may not have been me) took it off the one i wanted to use in a previous life.
so my question is, how do i replicate the white stuff on the other shaft so that it takes up the slop in the hole?
answers to potential followups -
no i cant use the one pictured
Plastic weld epoxy doesn't work
PTFE tape doesn't work but had a better outcome than the plastic weld epoxy
armed with that knowledge - give me your best solutions.
I'm currently thinking PTFE paste? will it dry hard enough?
copper/brass tape? would be a pain to fit i imagine.
Not having something is not an option as there's way too much give in the steering wheel compared to movement at the wheels without it.
Ford and their poor tolerances
