Sorry if I seem to be enjoying your sorrow and i can see your point of view as a restorer keeping thing original etc. But I'm quite glad the slotted head screw is going. After the few years I have done carpentry I grew to hate them. Plenty of cuts and gouged woodwork.
Pozi's were great for me. No slipping and I can hide them if needed.
I've got no more advice re slots, but I have to say, the BEST screw ever is the square drive. A bit rare in these parts, but all the rage in NZ.

There looks to be the following;
Boxes of 250 screws, Twinstart Uni-Fix Bright zinc, hardened steel, all 'Made in Great Britain'
7 of 10 x 1 1/2"
4 of 12 x 1 1/2"
2 of 12 x 2" (one of which has about 160 screws in)
11 of 6 x 5/8"
Boxes of 200 CSK self col.(with shanks)
2 of 10 x 1 1/2" (no name)
1 of 12 x 2" (no name)
1 of 10 x 1 1/2" - Nettlefolds
1 of 12 x 1 1/4" - Nettlefolds
I can't guarantee they are all full but they are pretty much so as far as I can tell (apart from the one 12 x 2" which I weighed to check as it felt light).
All the screws (apart from the Nettlefolds) are in those plain brown card boxes. I've had them since about 1994 and they were old stock when I got them but all in good nick, stored inside, no rust and most look good as new.
Scroll saw would be handy - lets have a pic! Don't think I'd use a mortiser enough and figured walnut sounds lovely but would be wasted on me
Have a look at my 'Puppy' in the albums, also a pic on this page of a smaller piece made mainly from scrap plastic parts. I tend to use stuff that most people throw away. Plastic, metal, wood (mostly from tools or furniture), leather, rubber..whatever!! I also use quite a lot of the longest bolts I can find so if you have any surplus nuts/bolts or the like..any metal, any thread, any size (especially long tiny ones!) don't mind used. Also all sorts of odd fixings..WHY? as they say in the small ads!
There's more of my work here in case that inspires any ideas for junk you may have mouldering in the corner of a shed..(currently been on the hunt for old ever-ready cycle lamp clamps - see feet on Plas-tic-tockus - found a whole load on ebay!).
Looks like I'll be in Greenwich wed/thur next week, so wed night would be best if you can do that. You could come round to mother's house which is 2 doors from a grand pub - would save me having to park in the centre of Greenwich (I'm not lumping half a cwt of screws on foot!). However, presume you're not in a rush and I've no plans to get shot of them so we can easily fix another time. I go to Greenwich quite often.
^ Nope.
