I know, you recommended it last year when I had a sill to repair. Which reminds me, I must order another tube, there's another rotten sill, upstairs unfortunately, time to get the scary ass extention ladder out.

How did the repair hold up?

Aye. I've seen them selling them but didn't know they were rebranding.

Repaircare is the resin system I use on timber.

A few years ago a Repaircare rep visited my then employer and gave the “suits” a hands-on demo. I was hugely impressed. I’ll confess however that my mind kept wandering to what else I could use the stuff for!

Will need to be 240V and beefy enough in wattage terms that I can't stall it in amateur use.

I had the same thought when I bought my 240v Makita ....the thing was a beast. Problem is sometimes the bits catch on the work piece and the thing would rip itself out of my hands.

Sold it in the end...just an accident waiting to happen...bought a 18v Dewalt...it does the job. I can stall the Dewalt if I lean on it but it's a lot safer than the Makita was and I'm not scared to use it!

I'm a realist.
I'm also acutely aware that if the resin isn't applied correctly it will not last.

Coincidentally I've just finished putting some in my gates pre decorating.
Works very well on joints on sound gates to stop movement cracking the paint on the joints.

So you're asking if I did it right?

I'll pop round and have a look tomorrow but I think it's held up well. IIRC there's a sealing product you're supposed to apply before the resin, presumably just a thinner epoxy to soak into the wood, I didn't know about it until I'd already done the repair so I didn't use it, think it's fine though.

That's it. The stabiliser. As long as you went back to sound wood it was probably ok. .

Katsu grinder arrived today, big shout out to those who recommended them.

Not been out to the cave yet but on first inspection it seems robust enough, certainly for my purposes, and with a reasonably flexible cable too, which is nice!

Thanks to the forum, another opportunity to show a machine who's Boss but watch this space....

Just to finish this one, the grinder worked well on what I wanted it for and I'm sure will continue to do so on future projects. Thanks for all the help.

It came with 2 x grinding stones, one white and one pink[ish]. As said elsewhere I've ordered some carbide burrs and will be looking into more stones of various variety/sizes/shapes.

Ask about anything in here and the help & advice is tremendous!

When I first posted, the last letter of the link was an I, not an L. They both look the same when typing in. I changed it in a couple of seconds after " Video Unavailable" came up on my screen.
