That's a nice looking beast. Looks like it actually gets quite a lot of use too? On a slight tangent, when you're rotating the jaws on these, how much resistance is there generally? Does the cylinder rotate with just slight effort from one hand, or is there a notable resistance to rotation, as in not needing to really lean on it yet somewhat stiff to rotate?
Mine need a good firm push to rotate. I could put a couple of club hammers in the vice with it swung out to the side, loosen the pinch and it would stay put I think.

Mine has had a lot of use in the past, it got sidelined for a while by a Record 23, but it's now mounted on my fab bench and getting some use again.
When I first got mine from the scrappers the drum was siezed solid, it took some screwdrivers and some oil to get it moving. Since I stripped it and refurbed it if the clamp bolt is loose you can spin it with one finger, but you don't need to tighten it up much to clamp it solid.

I cleaned the Swinden up with a cup brush in the angle grinder, otherwise no real polishing or smoothing. It's a pretty close fit, so I would expect some variance due to manufacturing tolerances.Yep, the 23 is a 6" with quick release, £3 from the tip![]()
You got an absolute steal at that price. Jammy git.
