Do you have a flat section at the rear bottom of the RF tank?
Cancel this I see you have the air box to take into account as well.

That's it, and I think I was overcomplicating what I had to do by treating the GSXR base as a single piece. By cutting the back 1/3 or so off the base I can set the front section for the airbox and then either reuse the rear section. Or I can cut the pump mount out and make a new well to take the mount.

The second option is better as I have a lot of room below that on the RF now that the carbs and airbox aren't there. Plus it'll give me some additional tank capacity which will be handy.

I think I have it sussed now, just got to order some sheet strips and then the cutting and tacking can happen. I'll need to get some pipe sorted for the filler overflow and get that in place too. Then I can see about getting it all TIG welded/brazed up and while that's happening I can start pushing on with the rest of the to do list.

Hopefully it'll be mobile by the Spring.

It's a drain from the cap surround down through the tank and out at the lower rear to a rubber hose that takes any overflow away by the swing arm pivot. Not exactly essential but they are a good idea when you're refuelling over a hot engine so worth the effort to fit one again with the tank in this state.

not uncommon for water to get past the cap too, straight into tank.
