He received it back on Thursday.^^ I had to Google SEPA [up here it means Scottish Environmental Protection Agency, and you do NOT want to fall foul of them.....]

I read that reply as them wanting to refund some money, which can only be good.
http://transblawg.eu/2004/06/23/translating-rechtspfleger-into-english/ is this of any help?
He is on tacho in recovery truck...I assume it's digital.he would get more money driving grocery delivery vans. im guessing he has a digi-tacho etc..
Recovery trucks are counted as emergency highway vehicles so they don't requires truck mot's and run without the tacho cards or charts inserted.
That's true to an extent but that's only within a certain radius of where they are based, tacho rules come into effect outside of their radius.
Skip lorry drivers are always in demand especially from agencies. When they go and work for a customer (and do a good job) the skip company contacts the agency to see if they can buy the driver off of their books. Good skip drivers are hard to come by, you need to be a certain kind of animal because not everyone can do it BUT you have another advantage in your favour and that is you can repair breakdowns and in the skip game I don't think there is a lorry that is treated more harshly. Employers will want to save money where they can so if you can drive skips and repair you will be an asset to them.
@Badger1bear what do you mean a certain kind of animal, does that type of job come with certain difficulties?
Tell him to get onto the agency's as you choose when to work and it pays well.
The bug money earners in driving are the car transporters and cross continental guys but they tend to go for very experienced drivers who don't mind a week out in the the bunk bed.
Most hgv driving schools allow the cost of the course to be paid over a year or so once you've past, surely he can afford circa £150 a month once he's got a class 1.

It can be a dirty job, site agents and builders can take the proverbial and wreck your day, Skips are overloaded and the same old BS is rolled out " well your mate never had a problem with it" or the other good one is " we have had bigger lorries in here than yours mate " Skips get the crap knocked out of them and they can stick together causing you more grief to your day. The office put times on the tickets and its not possible at times to fulfill what the customer wants. Customers ask for skips but dont think that it has to turn up on a large truck nor do they think that it only offloads in one direction " cant you offload to the side mate " yet another BS statement. Builders have this ridiculous idea that when a skip is placed its ok for them to move them so when you turn up you cant reach it or their favorite is to build scaffold so close to it that you cant pick it up without hitting the scaffold. Another thing to screw your day up is turning up to site and having to get vehicles moved out to gain access, site agent will tell you "Two minutes mate" is that two minutes real world time or two minutes BS time which infact is 30minutes. All the time your have the office on your ass chasing for an update on the next job. Deliveries which are needed to go on the public highway, customer has not told the office of his needs so no permit has been applied for, customer gets the ass so say stand it on the grass verge outside of his boundary. You ask the customer if he owns that piece of land and when he says no you tell him it belongs to Highways and you need a permit. Customer then decides he does not want the skip, your problem now is you have a skip you need to get rid of so you can go onto your next job. Sometimes you can stand the next job inside your empty unwanted skip but thats not always practical. Add to this the school run traffic and the idiot women in their 4x4's that cant reverse. Add this to the Winter months where you are soaked from start of day till end of day, sitting on a wet seat, screen misting up dues to the warm air on the screen and your soaked body and seat in the cab.
So Yes it does take a certain kind of animal to put up with all the BS that goes with it BUT................. You can put a good skip driver in any driving job and he will excel......... you cant put just any driver into a skip lorry and expect them to be good
Bus driving pays ok, and usually guys either get bored or get sacked (no wonder..most of them drive like nascar)
Worth phoning first or stagecoach, both are usually chasing drivers.
I've been working for an access hire company (Mewp's. cherry pickers/scissor lifts etc )been there 3 weeks so far , good money. has its challenges but at least I can usually move the machines to the truck unlike skips. Done skip work too in the past and enjoyed it mostly
.
Most driving jobs that are" own account " or the transport is not the main source of profit are worth getting into .
I drive a unit and low loader but the class 2 drivers get the same rate as me with there rigid trucks
Has to be said tho most decent driving jobs are not advertised ,its word of mouth recommendations or you need to go knocking on doors .
Stagecoach will pay your test if they take you in exchange for agreeing to work for them for x years
60 hours a week flat bed recovery shift on nights from 4pm till 4 am 4 nights on.Jesus Christ what driving was he doing for that?
It hard though as his girlfriend who lives with him had a job as a manager of a store. ...the boss closed it new years eve. Offered a job 40 miles away saying he would pay her fuel.Good on him, too many get walked all over these days sadly...
