well I felt really good as I printed \ dozen spacers off 2mm increments and I all went way better than expected. then the failure while the spacers were printing I tried to model a joiner for a u shaped channel. I got them from screwfix and cut them in half but need a way of joining them so they will be water tight. Well I sort of got a model a bit like I needed but I cant alter the sizes and I dont think it will print correctly anyway. Any suggestions on what I have done wrong.View attachment 525625

oh and here are the spacers..It might seems easy to most of you but doing it so quick using pattern instead of copying and extruding each one made my day.

I managed to create a box and even got radius on the edges . Sadly when I come to do the final part it does not act how I expect it to. It creates a rounded back and side BUT only on one side .







How do I lower the rear of the box but keep the front the same size.





Here is what I am doing but instead of reducing it equal it just does one side and the command does not have the option to do both at the same time..

As always there are multiple ways to model this, the best way is usually dependant on speed but more more imporatantly how you may wish to change or tweak the shape in the future. As you come to learn more and more of the Fusion modelling tools then that may open more efficient ways to model. Assuming this is a circular quadrant of 10mm radius with 1mm thick 'walls' and edge fillets this is how I would model it...
Start with a box primitive:

Fillet the edge to give a circular quadrant:

Shell the front and bottom faces to give the wall thickness:

Finish off with the edge fillet:

Quite literally that is 30 seconds.

If say you then wanted to adjust your edge fillets to 2mm radius then that could cause a problem with the wall thickness:

Just solve this by filleting the edges before the shell - in this case just drag the sequence of operations on the time line:

Agreed, but most of the time is the thinking before doing - I think I'd already thought of 5 ways to model it whilst I was waiting for my lungo.

I'd probably have started by sketching the side profile you wanted, then extrude that to the width you want, add the fillets to the outside corners, then shell it out (select the front and bottom face for the shell command).

Sketch a square 10mmx10mm (with at least one edge on a primary axis), offset 3 edges by the wall thickness 1mm, fillet two of the outer corners:

Then revolve it 90° around the primary axis:

If you didn't want to sketch it on a primary axis then just turn one of the square edges into a centre line type to automatically set that as the axis of rotation for the sweep:

Exactly... The biggest problem i have is trying to search for what i am trying to achieve. It seems i cant even describe it correctly to humans let alone a search engine.

Then i have to go through various tutorials to find what i need.

OMG now my brain hurts.

This is what I like about AutoCAD. In effect just a big piece of paper and intuitive. Doesn't matter if you're drawing a battleship or paperclip. Icons are self explanatory and command line entry easy once you've remembered a few.

Try describing it your way to ChatGPT. It may not give you the correct answer, but its suggestions may at least help you with search terms.

No it doesn't! It is just a glorified search engine, but you can get written responses rather than a load of (usually sales) hyperlinks. Let me give you an example...

My (modern) Panasonic bread maker let me down today, likely to be my error, but I would like to know about what may have caused it please? Wholewheat bread, program 7, 400g loaf. It was on a delay timer overnight.I put seeds in the dispenser but it didn't open, so I got plain bread!

This is a very common Panasonic bread-maker quirk, especially with delayed overnight bakes, and it’s usually not a fault. A few likely causes, in roughly descending order of probability:

1. The chosen programme doesn’t activate the dispenser (most likely)​

On many modern Panasonic machines, the nut/seed dispenser only operates on specific programmes.

• Some wholewheat programmes do not trigger the dispenser at all
• Others only do so when not using the delay timer
• Program numbers vary by model, but Program 7 on several Panasonic models is wholewheat rapid or wholewheat basic — and the dispenser is often disabled

Panasonic manuals usually hide this in a footnote or table.

Result:
The machine baked perfectly, but never issued the “open dispenser” command.

2. Delay timer + dispenser = deliberately disabled​

Even on programmes that normally open the dispenser:

• Panasonic often disables the dispenser when the delay timer is used
• Reason: seeds can absorb moisture overnight, swell, or go rancid
• This is a design choice, not a malfunction

So:

• Manual start → dispenser opens
• Timed start → dispenser stays shut

This catches a lot of people out.

3. Dispenser jammed by seed choice or quantity​

If the programme should have opened it, then mechanical causes come next:

Common culprits:

• Mixed seeds with flat or oily seeds (pumpkin, sunflower)
• Overfilling (even slightly above the fill line)
• Seeds bridging across the opening

The dispenser flap did try to open, but couldn’t.

Tip:
If you didn’t hear the usual distinct click/clack during kneading, it probably never attempted to open (programme logic rather than jam).

4. Wholewheat dough timing nuance​

Wholewheat programmes often:

• Knead longer
• Have different rest periods
• Add ingredients earlier or later than white-bread programmes

Some Panasonic machines simply don’t schedule an “add-in moment” for that programme.

5. Rare but possible: sticky or sluggish dispenser​

If it used to work reliably on this exact programme:

• Flour dust + humidity can gum up the hinge
• A gentle clean and dry often restores it

But given this is a single failure, this is less likely.

My way would have been a cylinder as the back curve is its defining feature, negative cyl to get the centre hollow and a horizontal and vertical chop through the centre to leave 90 degrees.
However Bambu studio does not allow radiusing the edges, so wouldnt have been able to finish it..
