You will find that my K1 in the for sale section to be a good tool for that, it just works out of the box.

I've seen it and it's lovely but sadly out of my budget and a long way away as well unfortunately

They're OK, but do need a little bit fettling occasionally, but I had them to the point where I could send files to them via OctoPrint and get decent prints.
Certainly the quality wasn't quite on the level of my Bambu, but it was more than good enough for what I print to sell.

Full setup is a stock Ender 3 (think they're the original version, maybe the V2...), MicroSwiss direct drive extruders, BL-Touch touch probes, BigTreeTech ender specific control boards with the BTT Ender touchscreen, and magnetic textured PEI print plates (I might even have a smooth plate as well - it's been a while since I've actually used them!)

Literally no idea what you said as I have no context on the domain here I understand what they are but no idea on where they are in market so to speak. How much fettling is fettling and how occasionally? And what sort of money would you like? DM if you want to be shy

My lad has boxed up his Anycubic i3 Megs S since getting the Bambu X1C.

I suggested he might sell the Anycubic. He wants to keep it for sentimental reasons! Modded but done well it's far removed from the stock printer.

That is so tempting. I have dual ams on my p1s and the lack of one on the Elegoo is annoying. At £549 it may be worth getting one in. I find most of my work projects are in a 3d printed enclosure these days.

having not printed anything useful for the last 5 days, got withdrawal symptoms so printed something frivolous for my friends son.
Not printed any of the articulated models before, quite impressed with how they come out. and the amount of time people spend creating and improving them for free!
PS its red not pink, just the crappy camera on my phone.

Ender 3's, were essentially the first popular printer that mostly just worked out the box.
They certainly weren't perfect, but could produce decent quality prints with suitable tuning.

The MicroSwiss Direct drive extruder moves the extruder motor from the printer frame, to the actual printhead, and removes the ~10" of bowden tube, improving extrusion accuracy - https://store.micro-swiss.com/collections/extruders/products/micro-swiss-direct-drive-extruder
I'd have to check what hot ends are currently installed, as I think I might have swapped them back to the original Creality hotends, as the MicroSwiss ones had a habit of filament oozing out where it shouldn't (meant you had to strip the hotend probably every 20-30hours of printing, to clean up the blobs that used to gather around the hotend).

The BTT touchscreen just made the printer much easier to use at the printer compared with the original basic screen and knob - https://biqu.equipment/collections/...3-v3-0-display-touch-screen-two-working-modes

The BL Touch, is a retractable touch probe, that is used to carry out bed levelling, and Z-homing - https://www.antclabs.com/bltouch

The magnetic PEI spring sheet metal plates, not only make bed adhesion far more reliable than the original print plate or optional glass plate, they also make removing parts far easier. Sprung steel plates are now pretty much the standard for consumer grade 3D printers.

OctoPrint lives on a Raspberry Pi which was connected the each printer, and gives you a web based interface for controlling the printer, which removed the need for swapping SD cards around - https://octoprint.org/
It also allowed you to remotely monitor the printer, as I had one of them in the workshop for longer jobs with a webcam fitted.

Fettling wise, the key things are to occasionally adjust the rollers, and check the bed level (the BL Touch makes this fairly painless, as with the touchscreen, you get a visual representation of any major non-levelness)


Price wise, you can pick up a standard secondhand Ender 3 for £50-70, and I was probably going to stick them on FB for £100-120 each with all the upgrades, but without the Raspberry Pi's, as I can keep them for other projects, but I'd be open to offers if it means less hassle on my part selling them!

I can send you one if you have time to do it? I haven't time to do it myself with my care duties, although to be fair, it's not urgent. They tend to crack upon tightening them down with old age. I thought they were from the BL parts bin, but can't find them. This is very similar:
