OK thanks so there are variations noted then which I thought at much but great job DIY painting I wish I could take on my own car painting but its a huge time squeeze and over spray etc so ill continue doing all the prep and have my painter do the final coats.

He always pointed out how to ensure correct colour match which included having panels correctly orientated how they are installed on the car and sprayed in one batch for perfect colour match on metallic paints.

For example the paint thickness / direction of the metallic particles could adversely affect the match.

@JOEPRO the Pop has been totally bare metalled so the parts really needed spraying separately to eliminate bare metal at joints. Also I really don't have the room to spray a car in one piece. I have done but I would rather not.
I've always sprayed my own builds, for me it's part of the home built ethos. Plus I'm too tight to pay for a spray job
Here's the last one I built, again sprayed myself in my garage. It looks a bit dull, it was wet which seems to have dulled it. Again it was a metallic, clear over base. Bumpers were still at the chrome platers. The current build is parked on the grass verge in it's as bought state many years ago.

The manufacturers can’t get a consistent finish as there can be several plus different shades in a mixing scheme.
