That's a nice tidy Myford ML10. I haven't seen one of those for donkeys years.
I used to ogle the one they had in Buck & Ryan's shop in Tottenham Court Rd in the 80's

Thanks it’s connected up to a Rocketronics because I have gout in both hands so struggle to hold & turn handles for any length of time, my Pultra P type lathe is on the left & I have a small mill in a wooden shed.

If my workshop was 6' x 6' I would just about get the electrical cabinet of my CNC lathe in but the rest would be outside

I hope your bungalow is a better shape than my workshop, it is only about 12ft wide but about 40 or 50ft long, just totally the wrong shape for machines.

I made my jewellery bench look the part with a semicircular cutout and a bench peg.



Just missing the leather skin to catch the shavings now. Maybe I need to think about some tool organisation too.

Best of all, it can still be closed up when I'm not using it.

How do you replace a knackered peg ? In other words how is it fixed?

There's a 10mm deep dado roughly chewed into the top of the 4x2 running under the bench top, it's just a loose press fit in there.

I think I might add a steel plate with a thumbscrew to lock it in place, I want it easily removable so I can flip it over to have it either flat or tapered.

Mobile base for my table saw. Castors came from the scrap bin at work and the angle iron was scrap chain link fence posts. Only 2 locking castors, and if it rocks or moves during use I'll nudge a couple of wedges under the frame.

I have a cunning plan to spend half the money I should spend on an engagement ring to buy new tools.

So far however, I've only made one ring (to rule them all). A copy of a cheap one my girlfriend had which had snapped.


I've got a few practice pieces in mind before the final ring, I'll take pictures of anything I'm not too embarrassed to share.

Have you considered looking through a catalogue and choosing a premade ring setting, then adding a stone of your choice ?
That's what I did, and cut out the middleman. Saved $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

42 years ago when money was none existant for us I made a ring out of baler orange twine .. called it our engagement string . Glad her sense of humour was like mine ..we've been married 39 years . Ended up buying a second hand antique ring a few months later which she loves to bits . Had a win on the footy pools two years later .. wedding ring and eternity rings sorted , again antique rings .

That doesn't justify a load of new tools though.

I'd like to design and make it myself anyway, it's a lot of fun and I think probably saves even more money (if tools aren't counted of course).
