The other week a friend sent me a wooden kit, that allowed you to make a selection of models.
This is the one I built.
Rotate the rather short handle and the wheels turn and the piston move.

A while ago I scored 3x200mm castors at an auction for €23
Two fixed ones and one swivel. I had no idea what to use them for, but this week I got the luminous idea to put the on the engine hoist in place of those wonky little steel ones.
The castors are a german brand named Wicke and I ordered a second swiveling one. Those Wicke castors are bl**dy expensive, but look very high quality. The 3 for €23 was definitely a very good buy.
I lifted the Mosa genny with is which is close to 500kg and I could still push it with relative ease.
I used two of the original steel castors in the middle with two lengths of 60x60x3 RHS stacked on top of each other with crush tubes inside.
Those are only for moving the hoist with the legs folded up and don't touch the floor with the legs down.

The red box looks familiarWell....I did say it was a monstrosity! Bits of scrap cobbled together - &I'm the first to admit that's exactly how it looks!
Idea is to make a lift-up handle on the front to make it easier to drag about if the need arises (though really it's just a storage unit under the bench where it's inate fuglyness is largely hidden away).
I could give it a lick of paint - but let's face it I'd only be trying to polish a turd!

Shame they used 2mm thick bent sheets to make it

This is a door wedge for a Ford Pop.
They are a sheet metal stamping and one has cracked right through and this one is the wrong offset (they come as centre, offset up and offset down). So it was out with some stainless and the hand tools.
The offsets are now custom to the doors. Just need final finishing and a polish.

The real one has recently had a whole new tail, now it's due to have a year offline for major overhaul (in 2026).
They've also run out of spare wheels and had to have some new ones made... £££

Last full day of the holiday so it didn't seem sensible to start a new box project, but I thought I'd finally have a play with some tools my other half bought me for my birthday:
Okay, it's not going to win any awards, but I was quite pleased with it for my first finished spoon.
Made out of lime (which seemed an appropriate choice as it's what's usually recommended for beginner carvers I think).
Tools and PPE for scale:
The process reminds me a bit of turning bowls on the wood lathe: most of the wood gets turned into waste and part of the art seems to be knowing when to stop! I definitely could have fettled a lot more and refined the shape, but I was getting more and more nervous of doing something irreparable so I decided to call it quits.

Well I was coerced into this project today, something I absolutely shouldn't have got myself involved in today. Wednesday, no problem but I am trying to finish a major project off and I didn't need the distraction, they are arbour presses for the benchrest lot and it was al a bit rush rush rush. Something I hate, still not finished but I am for the day. Nothing but nonsense from the moment I got up:
This was the proof of concept work and it should have stayed here until I had proper time to devote to it:
Any excuse to use the 3dimension edge/centre/edge finder:
It finds the centre pop marks no bother:
This piece is for the base and I am just showing you can get a ridiculous sized piece in the vice and cut it with such a compact saw:
