Well I continued with my firing pin theme and managed to create a short video WARNING: contains mind numbing content:

For those that are interested, yesterday I made a short video too but I was holding my phone vertically until I remembered and turned it to landscape. It didn't matter, the damage was done, it refused to then go into landscape mode and the video looked decidedly odd!

I will spend a little time with each tomorrow on the T&C grinder and they should be grand.

Thanks to @Onoff for all his help with this.

Joint effort. I measured the original and gave my lad the fag packet drawing which he put into Fusion. I thought the resultant 3D print was damn close tbh. Tbh it was a bit "organic" to measure, is it 4.4mm or is it 4.5mm etc. A few assumptions made!

The 3d printed version has proved very useful great for laying out to see exactly where the next one can go. Not exactly scientific but extremely practical.

A hole to test the pressure washer method. Works well, fast and effortless.
Just not as controlled as per shovel. Need to figure out that aspect, as I want to set a concrete base for a pole to hang a big gate.

C-spanner for a Smart & Brown headstock. Bored some scrap mild steel plate on the lathe, split it in half, shaped with an angle grinder and file, then welded a handle and pin on. Pin was something hard, not mild steel.

i need to make a new nut for my headstock, this has reminded me...it appears the previous owner found a habit of using a punch and hammer to tighten it...all the locating slots are wallered out now

I've got three headstocks here for the one lathe. The idea is to swap them around for particular jobs. One of them has been similarly abused and I thought it was about time it was shown some care. I can probably file the slots into better shape.

I dont need to get it off, or alter it just yet...but when that time comes it would be nice to have a new one ready to go on...I do plan on getting the spindle out of it at some point to replace a gear that has a few chipped teeth, but for the moment its running nicely

This is one of the bonnet catch handles off wifey's pop. This is the best one, the rest are pitted to death.

The solution was a chunk of 316 stainless bar and a bit (lot) of time. You can buy these in SS but the profile is wrong with a flat face instead of a dome. Plus the finish is poor.
The thread is 0ba.

They still need a lick on a mop to remove the machining marks.

No lol was lengths of angle I welded up, took the best of bent pieces from the barn roof that got ripped off during the last major storm and cut them up.
