that pipe may be anodised which will be whats making it difficult to weld!Mk2 made. One pipe went okay the second was a absolute sod, keep getting contamination and spent more time grinding out the weld but eventually got there.

It's 100% not. Just a tiny splodge of dirt (I think some rocol from drilling the hole) that somehow escaped my cleaning but rather than stop immediately I persisted (after regrinding the tungsten) to try and weld the other sides. That was the mistake, once I ground it all out and cleaned everything thoroughly, let it all cool down and then stopped fannying about and hit it hard and fast it was okay.that pipe may be anodised which will be whats making it difficult to weld!
