I have some rotten wood post stubbs to remove which are 3" under ground/concrete and should be about 600mm deep. I tried screwing some long coach screws, as recommended by the fools on YT, but theres no sound wood under there and they pull out easily.
My current plan is thus:
Sharpened a 40mm SHS offcut and attached a timber handle. Seems a 10mm drill bit is too brittle as a pin so I will find some bolts later..
I shall smash this to the bottom and the hopefully be able to lever it out.

A little extension cable.
10m long 6mm2 with 32A plug and socket.
It's to power my big milling machine, as I couldn't be bothered wrestling with SWA and installing a new 32A socket next to it.
I could have got away with 4mm cable, but it'll be handy for welding, and there wasn't that much price difference.

Finally got some pics back of the pontoon that I built last year. Now all completed and ready for work

Don't let me choose Christmas trees again for parents... We were fetching ours today which basically with 15ft ceilings we can choose anything and it fits. Mum said can you pick one up a bit taller than you and another a bit shorter. Wife and I focused on finding nice looking ones and forgot about the a bit taller than me bit.
Chose a nice 13fter for us, a nice 4ft and what happened to be an 11ft. Cue Mum's stand isn't even close to fitting so someone had to make up for their cockup.
Some 150x150x5mm box, a bit of plate to cap the end and parts of the previous owners swing resulted in this.
Even drilled and tapped for M12 bolts to align the tree. Even had some festive paint in stock
Not sure I can be bothered to make another one for ours so the old piece of channel welded to some legs and a ratchet strap will do.

My post stub extractor was partially successful.
It extracted a 40mm square to the bottom, which was then firmly stuck in the tube. Tried knocking it out with a metal bar, and then the timber handle, both getting stuck.
Used grinder to slot it into a U channel and tried again.
The old timber post was only fully rotten at the bottom, rest of it seemed pretty good. I snapped the post using it as a lever.
Tried a new post but didnt want to snap that !

I made a few images.
Started playing with the Adobe FireFly app. My neighbor sent me a photo taken from his yard of sunrise over the icy river. He likes to install small standing stones as decor in his yard, which remind me a bit of Stonehenge and other Megalithic monuments, so I used FireFly to add some 'menhirs' in the river, plus a group of 'Druids' (or whatever) facing them.

A photo of our dock after adding sharks. "That's odd, Uncle Joe was just sitting there a minute or two ago."
We're actually far enough inland that it's fresh water, and we never get sharks---unless perhaps one gets lost on the way home after a drunken feeding frenzy?

I made another image. I used the Adobe Firefly app to create this bear touring London on a scooter. It was simpler than the way I used Firefly to create the bear in the loader/backhoe in my previous post (see above).

Mostly , a start on some spark plug washer thermocouples, and setting the rotary table up on the Bridgeport for drilling the stud holes in the Bantam squish head castings, which are now part machined and looking reasonable.....

I got the first post and panel up. Unfortunarely it is difficult to get a post spike, in an existing hole, square when also using post mix. The post is a little pisse but the panel is perfect and looks good. Out of time to do the second post but it will be same again.

Yes indeed, the monarch's cypher it's called. I asked ChatGPT to add a white cat to one picture, well it added a cat but came up with a totally different picture!
