Made it into the last stubble field to cultivate and drill, one more behind rhe plough then drill off and mowers on to clear some grass.

Me to ref lack of musical ability .I did watch a Spanish guitar competition on tv and some were accompanied by a guy sitting on a wooden box and drumming on it with his hands . I thought " At last an instrument for me"

It's called a 'cajon' (pronounced cahon) and means 'drawer' in Spanish, since origionally it was literally just that. A modern cajon incorporates a snare. It is easy to play but requires a skilled player to play it really well.

Guy who does my powder coating has a lad that races. He is good. He has started doing my coating, under dads guidance, to raise race money.

Did a load of these for him to finish, coat and flog at the track to pay for his racing.

They fit into my paying stuff so no harm no foul. Can’t afford to sponsor the boy so this is next best thing.

Your Citroenistas are probably related to the Lancia and Caterham tooth-suckers I encounter who last had their car out sometime in the 80's when it nearly worked most of the time, rather than in regular use now

Man you've got some rocks in that soil! I've been using a new wire thats apparently good for plough tips etc, but its mega dear. I doubt anyone but industrial users can afford it.

Is it too expensive to plough then lift the rocky soil and run it ovr a sugar beet sort of conveyor belt screen to remove a large proportion of the stones or use a roller with a punch paddle to push them down below the surface

To be fair those size of stones aren't an issue, this field didn't get rolled as it rained the day after I drilled it will get it rolled next week when plants are strong enough.

For cereal crops its not needed, those stones will push down with the rollers once we get to it. The clods and stones actually help stop the surface slumping and setting hard if we get heavy rain after drilling, we run a wedge ring pacer on our power harrows, they compact and crush clods on a 50mm wide strip in line with each seeding Coulter, the Coulter then plants into the nice fine soil and the rear harrows rake the rougher soil from between the rows over the top to protect it.

Back to the hard facing wire, we can buy various hardened points, tungsten tipped ones and hard faced with wire ones.

These are rough prices but a standard point is £10, hardened point is £17 and tungsten tipped is £50. What we've found is the £17 ones last about 5-10% longer than the £10 so not worth it, the £50 tungsten ones either chip or break off the tiles, if that doesn't happen after they've done 2-3 times the work of a £10 one they wear thin behind the tiles and bend when you hit a big rock.

Yeah this is a tungsten carbide wire brazed on to the part. Can't chip like the choc blocks or normal Hardfacing wire because the tungsten carbide is in a very tough nickel matrix.

I think you'd be around the £50 mark for the tips again though given gas prices and the wire is a few thousand pounds a reel.

Impressed with with your obvious knowledge of all that kit. I haven't even been able to work out how to edit a standard patch on my A4 paper- sized Zoom R8 hobby machine. I keep reading the instructions but due to old age I keep missing a step out.

Thanks. Been an entertaining few years learning.

Hardest part was sorting out my midi routings so everything plays nicely together.


The synths are the easy bit. Once you understand one you understand them all. Unless it's a dx7. FM is a pig.
