What are you filtering with it?

Foodstuffs mainly, all that Heston Blumenthal, molecular gastronomy crap.

It was actually dashi that's brought this on, there was a bit of stuff which passed through a sieve, I tried a coffee filter but it was taking forever so I just left it in, it didn't matter and the soup was delicious but it would be nice to have the option to easily filter broths and things in the future. My main use will be cold-brew coffee, I make a litre at a time and it always blocks normal coffee filters, which takes ages and usually needs the paper changing, it does need filtering too as I store it in a cream whipper under nitrogen and fines might make the valve leak. This setup should allow more area of the paper to actually filter, hopefully reducing clogging (In a V60 or Chemex there's really only a small circle at the tip of the cone that actually does any work), the extra force should make clogging less of an issue and generally speed the whole process up too. I asked how to solve this problem on here last year and was met with a resounding "Stop making cold coffee, you freak".

3D print a funnel with drainage grooves on the inside , running into the funnels spout . .. giving you numerous ports & gullies for drainage down to the outlet pipe

I don't believe in 3d printing.


I did try a pleated filter though, it wasn't much of an improvement.

You'll never know if it would work then .

I have a big 250 mm wide 250 deep multi holed stainless steel made of sheet metal as a cone strainer ( Hundreds & hundreds of 1mm holes ) for wines & juices , it was only when I put a nylon mesh cone insert in it followed by two thickness of Jaycloths inside the nylon cone that the filter started to work well.

The larger surface area available for straining is the secret

I did some work on the pressure pot for sandblasting that I bought, the mixing valve was so small it was difficult to work, I got one with a bigger lever. I also had to replace the compressed air connection so I also put a valve there, really should've been like that from factory I think.

I am working on converting my blast cabinet to a pressure blast system since I hear they are so much better. The old suction gun was converted into an air gun, no point throwing things away.

I put the old mixing valve on the blast cabinet, but I had to make an adapter.

Shed's still under construction, but I'm putting it here.

I reused the cap and nozzle from the old suction gun and made an adapter so it's just connected directly to the hose now, I use the valve on the side of the cabinet to turn it on and off.

Of course when I was going try it, I wasn't getting any medium (glass beads), or it came in starts and fits. I had to open everything up and when I looked into the pot I saw the whole was covered up completely. Had to remove the bottom mixing valve and out came this round piece of stiff plastic that had perfectly covered up the hole into the mixing valve. No idea where it came from. Well I gotta wait for the loctite sealer to cure again now. Hopefully no more issues.

Made a leftover stainless steel tray fit the "heavy" which has just been painted this week now I've actually caught up with stuff needing done. Holds all the carver tee slot clamps etc.

Thanks no actually its a machine bed with tee slots. The white paint on the side of it makes it confusing to look at but i didn't want to paint the bed as well as the frame. This might give a better impression

I made a vegetable garden.

Well in my defence the cold frame was there so a while back I lit a big bonfire in it to kill all the brambles. Reassembled most of the jigsaw that was a partially broken down wall. Then came the fun bit, bolted some scaffolding together, laid a welded mesh sheet over the top and sifted some topsoil into it (only took about 8 cube of soil). Then nipped over to my parents to get some well (15 year) rotted manure. The missus and little one then planted the courgette, marrow and pumpkin she was given by her mother.

IBC of water filled and plonked on a convenient nearby mound. Osmund pipe into big cattle lick bucket as temporary solution for watering.

Why is it that we've been getting presents that require lots of time, first chicks then vegetables. Plan is to automate the watering so at least we don't have to do that.

A complete step away from the usual lorry. Welding. Metal. Machinery stuff and made plant beds for the garden. These plants and trees will be great in few years time.
