When he was alive I saw an inch scarf on my brothers ancient Coronet combi bench saw blade , where the edges had also been carefully ground to 45 degrees for a greater seam ..it was beautiful .
He had several other bigger blades chopped down & silver soldered for it by a retired jeweler who also played wood after he retired .
Use an asbestos backing pad , line up the blade with a thick straight edge , clamp twice either side of the scarf leaving a 0.5 mm gap , recheck the alignment ..silver solder using a cooks mini gas fired blow lamp or a super small neutral flame mini OA torch .
I'm not sure but I suspect the jeweler had used a bit of soaking wet wood to quickly quench the teeth area then let the remaining heat in the blade flow back to temper the teeth .
