Do you ( or other guys ) ever consider a ratio of labour rate per unit of materials used & also specifically purchased for the job ?It is a very hard thing to do, price a job. Even after many years I find it hard. What I tend to do is think how long it will take and then double it, sometimes that still isn't enough but mostly it is. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but even when you lose it is much less than you would have if you had quoted the time you initially thought.
Architects , planning offices , builders , insurance assessors etc. seem to use cost of so much per square or cubic metre as it takes too long to do a proper full calculation of a lot of job/s
