Do you hand work the piece your filing into it?
Or if your filing a key hole for example would you thread the file through a precut hole?

Thanks. I'm not sure what you mean by "do you hand work the piece your filing into it", but as to the second question: yes. When I made my slow speed grinder a few months ago, I had to cut a few keyways with a file and it's a job I hated. That was one of the reasons I pulled my finger out and got on with making the filing machine. For a keyway, I'd drill the central hole and then slot it over the file on the filing machine. The filing machine can be run without the top support if needed, but I imagine the top support makes for a better cut.

Can I be dumb and ask the use of a boring bar sleeve? I will assume it’s a sleeve that slips over the bar with the correct OD for the hole so stope rattle/ flex of the bar??

Extra clamping rigidity and mass for vibration dampening These 3 all have the same centre height - 8mm, 12mm, 16mm. The 20mm+ bars I just clamp directly in a toolholder, although if i had another old boring bar to chop up, I'd make a 20mm sleeve too...

Finally finished* re-homing my phase converter from a mess of wiring spread between a shelf and the top of a cupboard in the area next door, to a mess of neatly wired all hidden in a box.

* I say finished, but it's more a case of being functional. Rotary isolator switch is on back order, and the RCBO I'd ordered from Screwfix for the isolated 240V output, got refunded this morning as they couldn't actually supply it, so it's still not connected, but I won't need to use that for another couple months anyway. Plus I'll probably swap the 3 phase RCD for something more modern if I can find one at a reasonable price.

Doing some math I get that the heat recovery is 60-65% efficient, which is less than I had hoped. The ideal range is in the 80% range.

Good airtightness is important to get the higher ranges with MVHR along of course with high insulation levels which I'm guessing you have.

Has an air test been done?

Yes it was done when the house was new. Since then though who knows, we've added a cat flap on the rear door and it's not air tight. I did some measuring and found the air that enters the heat exchanger is 2 degrees lower than the ambient indoor temp. It might be the insulation around the ventilation shafts perhaps, if I assume the same is true for incoming air, that it loses another 2C before entering the rooms then I get a 4C loss from that alone. At least with the temp as when I measured it (-6)
