Honestly, it's getting me down now. I appreciate the concern, especially from @DAPPH but having had a number of (proper) tests now, it really is a cold.

Not today as it was ongoing but MOT’d yesterday and it’s first outing today.

So it’s 4995mm long. The threshold for north isles ferries (within orkney) is 5m. Over that is per m and the price hurts more than a Jim’ll fix it medal. Getting it under was a challenge. DAF 55.250 tractor unit shortened and hacked a-team style with a shortened transit curtain grafted on. I’ve a roof rack to make for it next but he is happy. It has new curtains on order.

Roof rack as there is no limit on height. I will take a photo of some of the tall ones. They’re quite funny. Almost African spec

Made a skipper happy, he brought his kettle in.

He will now be able to g to sea tomorrow

Skimmed a couple of sets of hauler plates.

Cleaned the cast iron from the lathe.

Then another skipper brought in another set of plates for skimming so my cleaning will have to be repeated.

That is the plates done.

Also filled up and ground an ejector knife for the same guy.

Now I just have to go and clean the bleeding lathe again
Thankfully I hadn't cleaned out the vacuum cleaner so I only have to do that once today

Depends but average will be about 10 times I would say.

I don't sell the new ones, I have in the past made stainless ones for a couple of boats but that was because I managed to find some well caps in the scrappies so it made it reasonable, having to buy 430mm dia x 30mm thick stainless new would frighten me, never mind the fishermen

Quite a few of the fishermen now use wear plates made from pressed steel that the hauler makers supply. Some boats can get them to work, others can't but I still reckon skimming the plates works out cheaper in the long run.
