I bought a couple of those, 10" version which came with a large tripod, worth it just for the tripod! Tuesday I was decorating and painted the hall walls and it was ideal for the job, gives a well diffused light.
I intended to use it as a welding light next to bench.

Cut off a parting holder with grinder, soon to be tiged into something better. Need to grind a bit more so the new peice sits flat against the blade recess.

Cutting a 52mm * 10 deep register. This will let me have it bolted direct to spindle and not have to mess about with chuck - I dont trust it with only a small jaw contact.
The bar is good, extended right out it was quiet.

Been drilling plates over the last couple of days. Brother was using my pillar drill so I made a drilling jig for the magdrill and rattled a batch of 48 plates (4x 14mm) off... Wasn't fun though! More fun was these special bracer plates, the new plasma rips through 10mm.

After cutting that slot,as featured on these very pages last week,I made a new lock case,then welded it into this gate frame.
It’s high usage,serving 7 houses( that’s an estate around these parts!),so had just worn out the original.

Made some repairs to a small decorative cast iron railing, customer just wanted it to look complete as you can't see it from anywhere but 30m away and 2 floors down! Scrolly bit was added later as he wasn't sure if he wanted it but the rest of the job cost less than he expected so went for it in the end.

Today cleaning my shop and immediately messing it up with some other stuff.
Mate come along with an very expensive SCR Crane controller.
Power supply for first phase cut out.
these parts are reeeealy expensive so he wants me to have a look at.

cost about 30min to get all involved parts out of the board.
Tomorrow will try to fix it.

5C Collet Storage

Continuing the collet storage theme I thought I'd sort out my 5C collets - previously piled in two totes in a cupboard, finding what I needed or if indeed I had that size was impossible.

So 40 mm waste pipe sliced into sections and solvent glued got them neatly into another drawer and easily 'findable'

(This time in the interests of domestic harmony I bought my own clothes pegs - these things are cheap as chips and I suspect that they will come in handy for all sorts of applications in the workshop, especially when painting small parts)

HArd to find Record blue.
Some say Hamerite smooth blue is close.
Some say ARF Roundel blue as well.

I have seen GPO Records in Fire engine red, RN in Battle ship grey, even green.
Army ones in black.
All original as well.
